Do you know how the female leopard ruins everything in existence? It is a corporate collaboration between the long-popular animation franchise and the fried chicken fast food company. But honestly, I'm not sure anyone can blame Popeyes for not having enough collectibles to satisfy the needs of One Piece fans. Scalpers always make things worse.
In fact, One Piece and Popeyes have come together for a limited-time menu that includes Luffy Lunchbox Bundles, Gummy Fruit Lemonade (which I hear is pretty good), Chopper's Cupcakes, and more. Six locations in the U.S. were offering actual Luffy-themed lunch boxes made from wood while supplies last. They didn't last long. A line has formed around at least one of these stores, and naturally, eBay now has nearly 100 boxes in stock.
For reference, it is said that one piece comes with 2 pieces of chicken.
As Dexerto reports, Popeyes merchandise seems to be popping up. Don't be fooled by this $15 list. These are standard cardboard boxes found across the country. I mean, if you really want to… but yeah. We're seeing a lot of these, with some sellers referring to them as “very rare.” Maybe in the grand scheme of things? What do I think? But this is what collectors really want.
I will not link to expensive fares because it is bound to be scalper-centric. But the cheapest price I found is $150. As time goes on and there are fewer and fewer items available, expect to see more outrageous $1000 attempts. Here's a page that charts search results for these budget lunch boxes, at least according to IGN's intuition. Check it out for yourself. It's wild.
Other merchandise commemorating the collaboration is also available through Popeyes' online store, including graphic t-shirts. Wait a minute. no. A notice has appeared saying that everything is now sold out. The notice helpfully notes that you can still order food. So, uh, there's that.
