How to Escape Through the Hatch in Dead by Daylight

A typical game death by sunlight While the survivors repair the generator, the killer hunts them down and attempts to sacrifice them on the hook. The goal of completing all five generators is to power the exit gate, which can be opened as the main way to escape the test. But there is another way to escape the killer: through the hatch.

Hatches are not available from the start of a match, and like generators, there are certain requirements that must be met before they appear. The guide below covers everything you need to know.

How to find hatches in Dead by Daylight

Hatch only spawns when 3 out of 4 survivors disappear from the trial, whether they are sacrificed, killed through Mori, bleed out, or escape. Once these requirements are met, a hatch will spawn somewhere on the ground floor of the map and can be used by the final survivor to escape.

The hard part is actually finding it. Unlike the exit gate, which is briefly revealed to survivors after all generators are completed, the hatch has no marker pointing to its location. The main way to find it is to listen for the loud buzzing sound it emits and follow the direction of the noise.

The harm is not limited to survivors. Because the killer can also interact with the hatch. If the killer reaches the hatch first, he can close it and force the remaining survivors to open one of the exit gates instead. Some killers may even stand near the hatch and wait for a survivor to reveal themselves before closing the hatch and starting the chase.

Listening for hatches is the most common strategy, but there are a few ways to make finding them much easier. The first one is Annotated Blueprint (Provided) If there is a Killer Shack on the map, the chance of a hatch spawning inside is greatly increased.

That's why it's a good idea to find the Killer Shack early in the game so you can get back quickly when you're the last survivor.

Another very useful option is left behind preferential treatment William 'Bill' Overbeck. Once all other survivors are gone, this perk allows you to see Hatch's aura within a 32 meter range, making it much easier to find the killer before he appears.

The last useful item is key. Although it won't help you find hatches, it has another important use. If the killer closes the hatch before you can escape, you can wait for them to leave the area, approach the closed hatch, and use the key to reopen the hatch for a quick escape.
