I don't blame you for not remembering, but Final Fantasy 14 Mobile was being released in China in 2024. Later that year, it was announced to the entire Final Fantasy XIV community, with director Naoki Yoshida billing it as a new way to experience the story and a “sister title” to the main Final Fantasy XIV, which would be developed independently.
There have been bold promises made when it comes to content updates, and for a while the game has been adding new additions like hairstyles and mounts that have made regular FF14 playthroughs a bit jealous. However, a little over a year after the game's proper release in China, it looks like Square Enix has given up on the title altogether.
Final Fantasy 14 mobile appears to be abandoned
There have been several reports that Final Fantasy 14 Mobile hasn't done very well since its official launch in China. Not only is it full of predatory monetization methods, but it is also said to have failed in its attempts to split players' cash. The last major update was last November and the radio has been quiet ever since.

Yoshi-P isn't retiring anytime soon and still “has a lot of game ideas stored up”
His illustrious career doesn't seem to be ending anytime soon.
It's looking increasingly unlikely that Final Fantasy 14 Mobile will release globally, with new findings all but confirming that Square Enix has abandoned the game. Discovered and shared by a Reddit user named Aqualenne, the game's official mobile site appears to have been down for over a week. Clicking the link takes you to an error page.
With no noticeable updates, disappointing earnings, and a mobile site that's been down for weeks, Final Fantasy 14 Mobile is practically dead right now. We'll likely see unique items and hairstyles appear in the main game over the next year or so, and I wouldn't be surprised if it quietly closes without an announcement. It was an interesting experiment, but it seems to have failed.
