WASHINGTON: Elon Musk’s false or misleading claims about the US election posted on X have garnered nearly 1.2 billion views this year, a watchdog agency reported Thursday, underscoring the billionaire’s potential influence in the highly polarized White House race. Ahead of the November election, researchers have raised concerns that X, formerly Twitter, is a hotbed of political misinformation. They also noted that Musk, who bought the platform in 2022 and is an ardent supporter of Donald Trump, appears to be using his personal accounts to spread misinformation to sway voters.
