The settlement of RPGs was always interesting for me. The developers always saw the power of the console and had to compromise on scale so that everything was smooth. If any of the bustling cities of RPGs are expanded, the game cannot run at a consistent frame speed.
The result is often humorous. There may be two buildings in the so -called cities. At this moment, we must stop distrust. Skyrim's loneliness should be one of the least populated capitals around.
Novigrad is described as one of the largest cities in the north in Witcher, and Witcher 3 works with the city very well in the size of cheating, but still not size.
Dense and caught settlement
The CD PROJEKT Red will solve this problem in The Witcher 4 and use new technologies to capture the size of the game settlement more accurately. In the recent technical demo in this game, we saw Valdest, KOVIR's “Harvest Harbor City”.
VALDREST is not close to the size of Novigrad in-UNIVERSE, but there are over 300 NPCs in the small village of Witcher 4 and is similar to Novigrad. In an interview with Gamesradar+, engineering manager Jan Hermanowicz talked about the generations of Witcher 3 and The Witcher 4.
“The change of that generation, we want to do it right,” he said. “Our ambition is to make the most of it and actually provide the next generation experience.”
To find the density to capture with the smallest settlement of The Witcher 4, CDPR has studied NOVIGRAD, the largest settlement in Witcher 3.
“We actually saw what we did in the past, wonderful things about it, what we could not do at the time,” he explained.
If Valdrest is an example of a small village of Witcher 4, I am very pleased to see how the metropolitan city will look. Since the technical demo was a concept proof, it is not possible to predict which technical tasks can perform CDPR in the future, but the initial signs are very promising.
The release date of Witcher 4 was not announced, but it is unexpected before 2027.
