Before explaining the consequences of every decision, it's worth noting that unlocking one ending is enough to unlock the associated achievement. Experiencing both endings will not give you any new achievements..

Alters What happens if I create a successor variable to the last variable?
If you select the “Create successor” option, Jan Scientist will return to the Womb module and create another version of himself with enhanced knowledge to continue the same process again.Hopefully there will be better visibility and fewer errors.
As JanBot explained during a conversation in the Comms Room, each iteration brings improvements and leaves room for further progress in recreating infinite energy. That means none of them have been perfect so far, so the process has been repeated several times.
Please keep in mind that this game does not have a New Game Plus mode. So while “creating a successor” would ideally be a start for the 320th Jan scientist to start doing the same experiments, in reality he would never be able to experience that life again, nor would he realize the improvements JanBot mentioned.
After choosing to continue the cycle by resetting JanBot, Jan Scientist gives a monologue at the end, emphasizing the nature of science and his desire to understand the truth behind everything, regardless of time.
Alters What happens if I break the cycle on the last variable?
If you select the “Break Cycle” option, Scientist Jan plans to disable JanBot forever.. This means that anything that JanBot has discovered and stored in JanBot's memory will no longer be accessible.
With this option, Jan Scientist decides to end his life as his 319th iteration.. Although he cannot recreate infinite energy, he will spend the rest of his life in the oasis until he dies, like the disciples who stayed in the field lab and never returned to base.
Jan Scientist reveals the big lesson of breaking out of the loop at the end of this ending is about having the urge to stop something and realizing that that's enough. It's a stress-free, more peaceful ending. Jan Scientist eventually dies, but at least in his final moments he experiences tranquility and peace.
The ending has no post-credits scene. So, if you don't have time to watch all the credits, you can safely skip them.
