Rogue Trader: Interstellar Sextant Encounter Guide

When the player first encounters the Interstellar Sextant rogue merchantYou will immediately be warned that the pirate ship is already attempting to escape. If you want to surrender the Sextant's crew before the Void jumps, you'll need to bring the big guns and enough ship power to deal enough damage before time runs out. It's hard to describe this encounter as anything other than an equipment check-in. rogue merchant, So, if you want to capture the Interstellar Sextant before it disappears into the void, you can take:

You may come across an interstellar sextant early in the campaign, and if you did, you probably won't be ready for this battle yet. The sextant is likely to move on the first turn. And since it immediately starts preparing to void jump, it only takes 2 turns to lower the hull to at least 50%.

The best way to successfully complete this encounter is to do something else, get the next upgrade for your ship, and then come back.

  • Quiet Run II This is very important as it allows us to act before the interstellar sextant.
  • quick reload You can fire your cannon twice in one turn if you fire your first salvo during the acceleration phase (i.e. if you fire while in the lowest colored cell on the display).
  • Ark Aggri Increases the weapon's range by 2 cells, giving you the opportunity to attack without hitting the Interstellar Sextant.
  • Buy better weapons from Imperial Navy merchants

Don't forget to set up your companions rogue merchant To another post on the ship. This allows you to upgrade your ship's abilities based on who is assigned to which post.

Next, it is a good idea to equip your ship with long-range weapons. It is recommended to mount it in the bow slot and the dorsal slot. In my playthrough With fire from the long-range starboard Hecutor plasma battery and a beam from the Godsbane Lance in the dorsal slot, we were able to disable the Interstellar Sextent on the first turn.. You can have success using short or medium range macro cannons and torpedoes, but your success will depend on the three abilities listed above.

The plan is very simple.

  1. Get into range of the Sextant (use Arc Augury if necessary).

  2. Blow up targets with cannons.

  3. Move as close to the sextant as possible, preferably with the port/starboard guns still pointing at the target.

  4. Use rapid reload.

  5. Blow up the sextant again.

  6. If the enemy still won't surrender and has exhausted all attacks, deploy torpedoes.

Capturing the Interstellar Sextent will earn you scrap and trade goods to gain reputation with your faction. Starbreaker Lance WeaponCan be equipped in the ship's Dorsal weapon slot. This is a mid-range beam weapon that deals 32-40 damage per shot. I personally prefer dorsal spear weapons because they have longer range than most cannons. As far as Starbreaker goes, this weapon will be of great help until you get Godsbane, which is essentially an upgraded version that does more damage.
