Sasuke Uchiha is one of the most powerful characters in the world. boruto and naruto. As a deuteragonist in the original, Sasuke faced off against Naruto Uzumaki, and at the end of the story was officially declared one of the two strongest men in the world. at boruto Sasuke's journey in the era was rough and this was mainly due to him being nerfed by the creators.
But now, the return of Sasuke Uchiha is officially being set up in V-Jump Issue #8 in the latest Mamushi arc, which began on June 18, 2026, and along with his return, his new transformation is being teased in a story we're all absolutely dying to witness.
Boruto: Two blue vortices enhanced Sasuke Uchiha's power during a three-year timeskip
boruto Uchiha Sasuke was heavily nerfed in a variety of ways. The first nerf Sasuke received was to his Rinnegan, which had most of its powers removed. Although Sasuke had access to the Six Paths Powers, he did not utilize them in Boruto: Two Blue Vortex. This was evident in various battles such as:
-
Sasuke vs. Momoshiki Otsutsuki from Boruto Episode 8, released on December 12, 2016, in Shueisha's Weekly Shonen Jump No. 2.
-
Sasuke vs Jigen in Boruto Episode 38 released on September 20, 2019 in V-Jump Issue #11
-
Sasuke vs Ishiki Otsutsuki from Boruto Episode 51, released on October 20, 2020 in V-Jump Issue 12.
In all of these battles, Sasuke never once used the Six Paths Powers of the Rinnegan other than his unique Rinnegan-based transport ninjutsu, Amenotejikara. Another nerf Boruto received came in Chapter 53. Boruto: Naruto Next GenerationOn December 20, 2020, when Momoshiki Otsutsuki stabbed his Rinnegan and took it away permanently. From this point on, Sasuke became incredibly weak. However, this big problem was solved by writer Mikio Ikemoto during the three-year timeskip. During this period, Sasuke and Boruto trained together, and although the main goal of this training period was to strengthen Boruto Uzumaki, Sasuke also trained on his own to increase his strength.
Code: Uchiha, you!!! How dare you steal my eyes?
Sasuke: Listen carefully, Boruto! There's no way to beat him right now. So escape. Survive at all costs and build on the skills I have instilled in you. Then no one will be able to stop you.
— Sasuke proves his new powers. Boruto: Two Blue Vortex Chapter #5
On December 20, 2023 Boruto: Two Blue Swirls In Chapter 5, it was officially confirmed that even without the Rinnegan, Sasuke was able to fight against the Limiterless Code and take out one of his eyes. This is quite a feat compared to Sasuke not even scratching Jigen. boruto Episode 38, despite having the Rinnegan. Additionally, Boruto Volume 8, released on June 4, 2026, confirms that Sasuke became stronger during the time skip thanks to his training with Boruto Uzumaki.
“While training together to become stronger, Boruto and Sasuke's main prey were fish and wild birds, which they hunted using raitons and shurikens, and they also hunted wild greens and mushrooms together.” — Mikio Ikemoto confirms Sasuke's new power in Boruto Volume 8.
All things considered, the current Sasuke is much stronger than before, so we're looking forward to a new transformation when the Uchiha returns at the end of the post-Mamushi arc, which began in Boruto: Two Blue Vortex Chapter 35 on June 18, 2026.
Sasuke's New Transformation Could Be Linked to Lighting Release Chakra Mode
As things stand, Sasuke Uchiha doesn't have many tricks up his sleeve, so it's harder to justify how he got stronger during the Two Blue Vortex time skip. The greatest power he has is the Mangekyou Sharingan, which allows him to utilize Kagutsuchi, the power of Amaterasu, and Susanoo, the ultimate ability. These powers, despite their greatness, are not enough to see Sasuke fight Code evenly or even take away one of his eyes. This only makes sense considering the fact that Sasuke has received a significant upgrade in some way or form.
“Forgive me, Boruto. It is my responsibility as your teacher to stop Momoshiki's rampage, but I could not be there for you when you needed it. The village has no need to hate anyone but me.” — Sasuke Uchiha prepares to rise to power, Boruto: Naruto Next Generations Chapter #69
The most devastating change that Sasuke could receive could potentially come from Lightning Release Chakra mode. This was first teased in episode 65 of Boruto during the battle between Sasuke and Momoshiki Otsutsuki. During this battle, Sasuke is shown coating himself with lightning to increase his speed and defense. Presumably during the timeskip, Sasuke trained his powers and took them to the next level to give him a significant buff. This explains how he was able to take one of Cord's eyes from him despite being outnumbered in battle.
Despite Sasuke losing the Rinnegan, he can still use some of the Six Paths Powers. Technically this shouldn't be impossible. This is because, as seen in Naruto Chapter #658, Madara Uchiha was able to use the Rinnegan ability despite having no eyes during the Fourth Ninja War. If Madara can do it, it's entirely possible that Sasuke can do it too, but I'd need confirmation from the author on this particular plot point.
Sasuke could potentially utilize Senjutsu as well.
In addition to the lightning discharge buff that Sasuke most likely gained during the three-year time skip. borutoHe may have tapped into Senjutsu. To be clear, Sasuke is not a user of Sage Mode, but he is no stranger to Senjutsu either. This is because at one point in the story, Sasuke wields the power of the Curse Mark, which allows him to harness the energy of Senjutsu.
“After I injected Jugo's chakra into Sasuke's body, his body adapted very well to it and he made this power his own. It is not surprising that Sasuke's Susanoo can merge with Jugo's chakra. What you stand before you is the Senjutsu version of Susanoo.” — Orochimaru explains Sasuke's Senjutsu, Naruto Chapter #648.
During the Fourth Great Ninja War, specifically his battle with Obito Uchiha in Chapter 648 of Naruto, Sasuke once again utilized Senjutsu energy through the curse mark that Jugo had passed on to Susanoo. In the timeskip, Sasuke took down Orochimaru and figured out a way to harness Senjutsu energy once again. This would have given him a significant buff and made him strong enough to damage the cord.
Moving forward in Boruto: Two Blue Vortex, Hidari is the main villain of the Post-Mamushi arc, and once he is taken down by Boruto and Sarada, you can officially get his Thorn Soul Bulb. After obtaining the Thorn Soul Bulb, Sasuke Uchiha is able to finally return by placing the bulb inside the tree. Upon his return, Sasuke finally gets a chance to show off the skills he gained during the three years he spent skipping Boruto.
All chapters of Boruto: Two Blue Vortex by Mikio Ikemoto and Masashi Kishimoto are available to read through MANGA Plus and Viz Media.
