Nikki Webster reveals ‘tough few years’ recovering from domestic violence

Nikki Webster has opened up about having had a “tough time” recovering from domestic violence in recent years.

Speaking on KIIS FM Kyle and Jackie O Show Friday At 9am, the 37-year-old Sydney Olympic sweetheart and current mother of two was quizzed about her dating life by co-host Kyle Sandilands.

He seemed completely unaware of the highly publicised breakdown of her marriage in 2019, when her ex-husband was accused of domestic violence.

“It's a long story,” Webster said simply, adding, “Unfortunately, it's not a very happy story.”

“I’ve had a pretty tough time the last few years,” she continued.

The dance school owner was previously married to Qantas flight attendant Matthew McMarr, and the pair married in 2012 but split eight years later.

Webster didn't reveal any major details early in the on-air chat, but eventually opened up after Sandilands asked her several light-hearted questions, including whether she was “interested in women right now.”

“I’ve never tried that,” she replied.

“I grew up in a pretty bad environment with domestic violence and things like that. So I'm happy to be on the other side of it and, you know, be able to focus on life and my kids.”

Sandilands asked Webster if she was “okay now,” and the performer assured her that she was “doing fine.”
