Nikki Webster has opened up about having had a “tough time” recovering from domestic violence in recent years.
Speaking on KIIS FM Kyle and Jackie O Show Friday At 9am, the 37-year-old Sydney Olympic sweetheart and current mother of two was quizzed about her dating life by co-host Kyle Sandilands.
He seemed completely unaware of the highly publicised breakdown of her marriage in 2019, when her ex-husband was accused of domestic violence.
“I am single.” strawberry kiss As the singer spoke, Sandilands asked, “Why? Where are your guys?”
“It's a long story,” Webster said simply, adding, “Unfortunately, it's not a very happy story.”
“I’ve had a pretty tough time the last few years,” she continued.
The dance school owner was previously married to Qantas flight attendant Matthew McMarr, and the pair married in 2012 but split eight years later.
In November 2019, court documents revealed that McMah had been convicted of assaulting Webster earlier that year. The Daily Telegraph At that time.
He was fined $880 at Downing Centre Local Court in July 2019.
Webster didn't reveal any major details early in the on-air chat, but eventually opened up after Sandilands asked her several light-hearted questions, including whether she was “interested in women right now.”
“I’ve never tried that,” she replied.
“Now is not the right time. [to date]I'm having a pretty hard time focusing on my kids.
“I grew up in a pretty bad environment with domestic violence and things like that. So I'm happy to be on the other side of it and, you know, be able to focus on life and my kids.”
Sandilands asked Webster if she was “okay now,” and the performer assured her that she was “doing fine.”
Tell to ~ women's Day Last August, Webster revealed that while she was open to finding love in the future, she was focusing on prioritizing her two young children.
“I hope that one day the right person will come along and it will happen on its own,” she told the magazine at the time.
“But I’m so happy to be a mom. It’s my favorite job in the world.”
