It also uses a glide membrane to maneuver in the air for other attacks.

Viper Tobi-Kadachi also has a very interesting ecological cycle of movement, making it easy to track and somewhat educational. The monster spends most of its time in cave systems. When it's time to eat, they hunt a nearby herd of pawpaws, and after catching them, they take the chunks of meat to their hideout to avoid the cold. This also explains why this dual-state threat lies dormant in a mini version of Rotten Vale.

Coral Pukei – Pukei is incredibly strong and can catch you off guard with a variety of new attacks. It is possible to spray concentrated jets from its tail in multiple directions and split the water jets with its tongue, making attacks on both sides difficult. Cutting off the tail will give you a better advantage and allow you to eliminate many of the more dangerous attacks.

The Stygian Zinogre is a subspecies introduced in Monster Hunter 3 Ultimate that lives in extreme environments and often appears alongside its native relatives. The basic Zinogre combines with the Thunder Bug, which grants Electric abilities, while the Stygian Zinogre combines with the Dracophage Bug, giving it a dragon element attack.

Dracophage worms are much more aggressive in their attacks than Thunder worms, and they become stronger and more vicious throughout the rest of the game with the addition of the Stygian Zinogre. By the time you're introduced to Iceborne in the Guiding Lands, you'll be subject to all sorts of vicious attacks that can affect large areas around you. The aggressiveness of dracophage worms makes the Stygian Zinogre a terrifying subspecies to deal with.

Lucent Nargacuga is the first example of a special type of rare subspecies. These monsters are considered the toughest creatures other than Elder Dragons, and are often fought in isolated areas that are more like arenas than actual locations. Rare species also tend to have specific gimmicks to their abilities, making them stronger than their basic relatives.

Lucent Nargacuga's special effect is the ability to temporarily cloak his body, using his reflective fur to maneuver around his body and set up an ambush while tracking his location. The monster can also fire poison spikes from its tail. Monster Hunter Rise: Sunbreak brings back Lucent Nargacuga with several attacks taken from Monster Hunter Frontier, making him even more dangerous and elegant than his previous appearance in Monster Hunter 3 Ultimate.

Similar to previous variants of Mizutsune, Soulseer Deviant, and rampaging Apex, the rare Violet strain can unleash a fiery aura and utilizes special fire droplets that can focus on the user's location.

Violet Mizutsune also has several new attacks through this ability, where fire bubbles accumulate into a single large fire sphere, causing a large explosion and significant damage. The background music in the Hell's Well arena also changes to the Mizutsune theme as soon as the monsters become powerful, indicating their increased power.

Silver Rathalos is the most common and rare species of Rathalos and is the most powerful variant for players to face. In previous generations of games, it had many of the usual Rathalos annoying attributes and became even more powerful with higher armor and various resistances.

In Monster Hunter World: Iceborne and Monster Hunter Rise: Sunbreak, Silver Rathalos develops a new ability called Hellfire, which makes his fire attacks more powerful.
