God Of War Laufey Star “Unbothered” Sexist Online Reaction

When we first saw God of War Laufey's announcement, there was quite a noticeable mixed reaction online. It's understandable that people are excited about a new God of War game, there are some who are puzzled by the presence of a giant green jelly cube voiced by Jack Quaid, and there are also incomprehensible reactions from regular people who get upset whenever a woman appears in a video game.

There were numerous sexist and misogynistic comments posted online, as well as some very strange AI-generated videos of the main character, Fay, washing dishes or doing laundry. There aren't many good times to get involved on social media, but the aftermath of God of War Laufey's announcement certainly wasn't the best.

Deborah Anne Woll Doesn't Care About God Of War Laufey Haters.

With all the attention paid to Faye and actress Deborah Anne Woll, it was possible that she might be subject to some of the visceral reactions online, as has happened to other female leads in the past. Thankfully, Woll took her reaction in stride, explaining to fans at the Florida Supercon (thanks, GamesRadar) that she was “totally unbothered.”

Addressing TikTok user Quinnphobic, Woll said, “Really I thought I would be affected by it a lot more.” “First, it helps because I don't use social media. Second, I don't know. It doesn't bother me at all because I know it's great. Like, if it's not your cup of tea, that's okay, but in the universe, it's not a bad thing.”

I can't argue that not using social media definitely helps in avoiding most nonsense, but I'm sure it could have crept in one way or another. Thankfully, Woll doesn't seem to care much about that, leaving everyone who decides not to try what could most likely be another great game from Santa Monica indulging in his own misogyny.
