Kohei Horikoshi My Hero Academia is one of the best-selling comics of all time that remains popular even two years after it was completed on August 5, 2024. My Hero Academia <미도리야 이즈쿠>tells the story of Izuku Midoriya, who tries to become a hero like All Might but ends up receiving the power of Japan's greatest hero.
Over the years, we all enjoyed My Hero Academia to the fullest and loved watching Deku grow from a Quirkless boy to a man who eventually mastered the power of One For All along with all of his Vestige abilities. This is why it shocked many readers when Deku lost his powers. The majority of fans who have played My Hero Academia have grown up with Deku for a decade, and seeing him lose his powers near the end of the series was definitely a huge blow. Thankfully, Kohei Horikoshi has set up a new ability for Izuku Midoriya, which comes in the form of an armor that replicates One For All's abilities. This armor appeared briefly in My Hero Academia episodes 430, 431, and the latest OVA, which was officially released on May 2, 2026.
My Hero Academia has officially promoted Deku to the #4 hero with his latest armor power.
In the special one-shot chapter, My Hero AcademiaReleased in My Hero Academia Ultra Age on May 2, 2025, Kohei Horikoshi returned to primarily focus on the character of Eri. This one-shot was brought to life by Studio Bones on May 2, 2026 as part of a special My Hero Academia release. Meanwhile, Japan's latest hero rankings were finally revealed.
“I wanted to give you a special gift. The data I gained from the fight with All For One opened up a world of incredible possibilities. Technology has continued to advance with Quirks. Keep this in mind, kid. This is a power you have earned, too, to be fair.” — All Might gave Izuku Midoriya an armor, My Hero Academia Chapter 430.
Surprisingly, the series' protagonist, Izuku Midoriya, appeared to be ranked 4th in the hero rankings. This was possible because of the hero armor he received at the end of My Hero Academia Episode 430, which was officially released on August 5, 2026 in Shueisha Weekly Shonen Jump Issues 36-37. This hero armor has been developed over many years. As All Might himself explains, technology has grown dramatically over the years since the end of the Final War arc.
Using the armored All Might as a prototype, Deku's armor was greatly improved and created in a way that replicated the power of One For All and the power of the Vestiges, as confirmed by Kohei Horikoshi himself. This new power of Izuku Midoriya has helped him rise to fourth place in the hero rankings in Japan, which certainly raises high expectations for the future.
Question: How does the armor Deku received from Class A work?
Horikoshi: We are trying to emulate various OFA abilities. For example, there is a Cable extension that acts like his ability Black Whip. It also serves as a prototype that can combine different abilities.

How Izuku Midoriya recreated one after his whimsical transformation
With the power of his new armor, Izuku Midoriya ended up replicating the power of One for All. As we all know, One for All has some unique abilities. Its primary ability is to store enormous amounts of energy and utilize it to greatly increase its strength and other physical attributes. With that power, All Might can create storms and easily change the weather. Under Izuku Midoriya, One for All reached its full potential. Not only was he able to draw immense physical strength from this quirk, but awakening all his vestigial quirks helped him dramatically increase his overall strength. Izuku can control the following powers:
-
black whip
-
danger detection
-
smoke screen
-
broken
-
gear shift
-
knit
By the time of the Final War, he had mastered all of these abilities. He can combine a variety of abilities to go beyond the 100% provided by One For All, turning him into an absolute monster and even rivaling All Might and Shigaraki Tomura in terms of overall power.
What's even more surprising is that when he became an adult and received a new armor from All Might, Izuku Midoriya's powers were completely duplicated in this armor. This means that every vestigial ability he possesses and its combinations can be easily replicated. Izuku Midoriya is 100% capable of replicating powers equal to or greater than those he can generate with One For All. This explains how and why he was able to become Japan's No. 4 hero, and why he still has tremendous potential to grow even further.
“#4 hero Deku has soared up the hero charts with unprecedented hype!” — Official hero rankings announced, My Hero Academia one-shot
Why My Hero Academia will soon make Deku the #1 hero
As it stands, Izuku Midoriya is Japan's fourth hero, but it's only a matter of time before he grows further and becomes the number one hero. Currently, the only heroes ahead of Izuku Midoriya are Mountain Lady, Shoto Todoroki, and Mirio Togata. All of these heroes are incredibly powerful, but they shouldn't stand a chance against Izuku in battle if he's at the same level he was in the Final War arc.
Plus, it's important to remember that it hasn't been long since Izuku became a pro hero again. The fact that he rose to fourth place in such a short period of time means that his growth as a hero has been incredible. He continues to grow and will officially become Japan's greatest hero in the next few years. Perhaps the series' creator, Kohei Horikoshi, may do another one-shot at some point in the future, or he may reveal this to fans through some other means. Either way, we're eagerly awaiting more exciting information to expand the game's universe. My Hero Academia further.
For now, all we know is that Kohei Horikoshi is incredibly busy with his next manga project, which started right after the end of My Hero Academia. That said, we haven't heard much about this new project for almost a year. This means that not much progress has been made yet and that the manga will be released soon. Conversely, this increases the likelihood of another short circuit occurring. My Hero Academia It has been released by the author and I hope it will be released soon.
