Tony Hawk's Pro Skater 1+2 is no longer available on Xbox Game Pass.

Xbox has announced that Tony Hawk's Pro Skater 1+2 will no longer be available on Game Pass, despite previous updates for the upcoming game. A confusing move called a Skateboarding remake has been announced by Xbox-owned studio Activision.

Our previous post detailing the next 10 games coming to Game Pass included Pro Skater 1+2 along with Gears of War Reloaded, the two bigger games in the announcement, the latter of which is coming to the cheaper Game Pass tier. It has been available on Game Pass since its launch last summer.

In an updated post shared on Xbox Wire, there's a note at the bottom of the article that says, “We've removed Tony Hawk's Pro Skater 1+2 from the list of titles coming soon to Game Pass.” The game's cover art was also removed from the graphic showing what was coming to the service over the next few weeks, but no reason was given as to why Tony Hawk was removed.

The following nine games are coming to Game Pass: xbox

Game Pass's lack of growth has led to rumors that Xbox is planning to pull out of the deal to bring more third-party games to the service. Xbox envisions Game Pass to have 77 million subscribers to date, according to court documents. In reality, that number is less than half, and it looks like the numbers are backwards as millions of people are abandoning Game Pass due to price increases revealed by Xbox President Matt Booty.

Tony Hawk's Pro Skater 1+2 is technically a first-party game.

The problem is that Tony Hawk's Pro Skater 1+2 is not a third-party game. The game is published by Activision, which acquired Xbox Studios in an industry-changing $70 billion deal in 2023. Tony Hawk's Pro Skater 3+4 was released after the acquisition, so it's already on Game Pass. However, the previous version was released in 2020, so it's not on Game Pass, and despite Xbox's previous promises, it looks like that won't be the case.

Why Xbox announced that a game they owned would be coming to Game Pass only to later revert to that decision without explanation is anyone's guess. Game Pass gaming plans have already been shaken up several times this year. Perhaps this is the first indication that Xbox is planning to make more changes to a service that most people are already pretty confused about.

This unnecessary confusion is one of the many reasons why Game Pass hasn't become the Netflix of gaming that Xbox wanted it to be.

One of the biggest changes to Game Pass this year was a price cut that had gamers canceling their subscriptions en masse right after a steep price increase. The trade-off for the price reduction wasn't the new Call of Duty games on Game Pass's first day. Perhaps this Tony Hawk decision had something to do with it since it was also published by Activision. Although I'm not sure what the connection is beyond sharing a publisher. Maybe it will get Acti-Blizz Game Pass status.
