Pokemon TCG Pocket has plenty of cards that are just exciting to play. This is because the fate of your entire strategy depends on whether you can land a coin flip properly. As the coin flies through the air, you and your opponent will be on the edge of your seat, waiting for the results.

Pokemon Pocket: Every Item Card, Ranked
Don’t discount the power of these Item cards; they can truly change the tide of battle in an instant.
If you land on heads, there are a variety of things that will take place depending on the Pokemon that you are using. Some of them can deal massive damage, others can fire up your other Pokemon for battle, and others will get rid of your opponent’s toughest Stage Two Pokemon without even damaging them.
Updated January 8, 2025, by Alexander Pinera: Pokemon TCG Pocket’s Mythical Island takes coin flipping to a whole different level. With the game already having a big focus on locking away some of the most powerful Moves behind the luck of a coin flip, Mythical Island gives players new reasons to bet it all on these coin-flip Pokemon. Some cards act as budget versions of more powerful cards from Genetic Apex while others add new barriers for your opponent to get around. You may not always get the results you want when it comes to these Moves but if luck is on your side, they can be the key to an easy victory over your opponent.

Eevee
Never Underestimate Eevee
Eevee may seem weak at first glance, but it has the potential to do some major damage if luck is on your side. For just one Energy, you can keep flipping coins until you get tails. Then, for each head, you can deal 20 damage.
These numbers add up and while you’ll need more than just luck in the later stages of the game, just a little bit of it can help you clear weaker Basic Pokemon at the start. Eevee also benefits from being able to Evolve into any of its three Eeveelutions, giving you plenty of flexibility throughout the match.

Celebi ex
Write Luck Out Of The Equation
Celebi ex not only has one of the most powerful coin flip Moves, but also one of the most reliable. Some cards give you a set number of flips per turn while others will stop giving you chances when you hit tails once. Celebi ex gets as many coin flips as you’re willing to invest Grass Energy to it.

With Grass-types having Lilligant for Energy acceleration and Serperior to double the amount of Energy on Celebi ex, you can keep flipping coins until you get the results you want.
15
Cramorant
Protection From Moves
Cramorant’s Dive Move is a force to be reckoned with. While it only does 60 damage for three Energy, it can protect itself from your opponent’s next attack if you manage to land the coin flip correctly.
Due to the wording of the Move itself, your opponent cannot simply hit you with a different Pokemon and call it a day. It is also protected if it somehow finds itself on the Bench getting hit by a bench-hitting Move. This can add some stall tactics to your Water deck.
14
Dedenne
A Quick Shock
Dedenne has an excellent coin flip Move that can be paired with other methods of inducing Status Effects to give you more chances of stunning your opponent. While Dedenne can only inflict ten damage with Thunder Shock, it can start attacking earlier due to its one Energy cost.

Pokemon Pocket: 6 Best Electric Pokemon In Mythical Island Ranked
Pikachu isn’t the only Electric Pokemon that can pack a punch in Pocket. Mythical Island brings some nice Electric upgrades.
Dedenne can start stunning your opponent faster than Pinchurchin at the cost of having less HP. However, this just makes it easier to allocate Energy to other Pokemon while Dedenne does its work in halting your opponent’s progress.
13
Weezing
Make Your Opponent Hate Coin Flips
Weezing does not require you to flip a coin to perform its Move correctly but forces your opponent’s next Move to become reliant on one instead. On paper, this seems the same as any other Status Effect that stops your opponent from attacking.
What makes this effect so good is that you can stack it with the Sleep Status Effect. In this case, your opponent needs to flip to wake up and flip again to bypass the Smokescreen effect. This also makes other coin flip Moves tough to use with an additional flip before they can start flipping for real.
12
Golurk
A Heavy Left Hook
Golurk does some devastating damage per coin flip. Double Lariat does 100 for each head with a maximum of 200 damage. Just one swing from this move can knock out most of your opponent’s weaker Pokemon while a second successful swing can even knock out Venusaur ex.

Pokemon Pocket: 6 Best Colorless Pokemon In Mythical Island, Ranked
Colorless Pokemon are great for any deck, so here are the best options to add from Mythical Island.
The only downside to this powerful move is that it costs a whopping four Energy to perform. This can be quite expensive, while other coin flip cards can do similar damage for less. Luckily, it is also compatible with Gardevoir’s Energy acceleration.
11
Persian
Hand Rip Your Opponent
Persian only does 40 damage with Shadow Claw, but it does so consistently. The coin flip comes into play when it’s time to see if you can perform a hand rip. Without easy access to cards that can recycle cards from the discard pile, hitting the right card can be deadly.
If your opponent is trying to set up a Stage Two Pokemon, but you manage to snipe the necessary Stage One from their hand, it can leave your opponent with dead cards in their hand.
10
Jolteon
Rapid Fire Pokemon
Jolteon is like a smaller version of Zapdos ex. It’s an Electric-type that can hit multiple times with Pin Missile as long as you land on heads. Each time you successfully land the flip, you can do 40 damage, which caps at 160.

This can easily deal with many weaker Pokemon but does require a few more hits to get to lethal. Luckily, Jolteon’s Pin Missile only costs two Energy, and it is a Stage One Pokemon.
9
Pinsir
Slice And Dice
Pinsir is an excellent Basic Pokemon for Grass decks that want to add an extra punch. Double Horn lets you do up to 100 damage if you manage to land on heads twice. Luckily, the move only needs two Energy to get going.
This is a coin-flip move with decent odds for the cost and a healthy amount of damage to dish out if you open it in your hand.
8
Exeggutor ex
Cheap And Reliable
Exeggutor ex is pretty forgiving for a coin flip Pokemon. As a Stage one card, it is easy to get into play, but what makes it even better is that it will be ready to use Tropical Swing with only one Energy.

You have the potential to do 80 damage with a single coin flip. Luckily, landing on tails won’t leave this card dead in the water. You can still get a solid 40 damage in.
7
Dugtrio
Defense Is The Key
Dugtio has a Move with a very unique effect. Dig has a base damage of 40 and is easy to set up since you only need to pay one Energy. If you land on heads, Dugtrio will be immune to all attacks the next turn.
This is a fantastic stall strategy since it protects Dugtrio from any of your opponent’s attacks and not just their current Active Pokemon. Unlike other coin flip cards, you don’t lose much for landing on tails since you still get to deal damage.
6
Lickitung
Hit The Damage Ceiling
Lickitung is one of the few Pokemon in the game that can hit the damage ceiling all on its own. It also has a coin flip move with no cap for how many times you can flip. Just don’t land on tails. For each successful heads, you get to deal 60 damage.

With Misty and even more water synergy, you can’t go wrong with adding these strong Water Pokemon cards to your deck.
With Giovanni, it takes three successful flips to knock out any Pokemon in the game. If you don’t have Giovanni, then four will do just fine. However, if you get lucky, you will see the damage output far exceeds that of any other Pokemon.
5
Aerodactyl
Get Rid Of Stage Two Pokemon
Aerodactyl has one of the most toxic moves in Pokemon TCG Pocket. Primal Wingbeat lets you shuffle your opponent’s Active Pokemon back into the deck. Does your opponent have a Charizard ex with full Energy? Land on heads, and it will go away.
This also shuffles back every other lower Stage Pokemon attached to the one sent back into the deck. This forces your opponent to draw all of their pieces one by one and set them back up again. By the time they manage to do this, it might already be too late.
4
Pinchurchin
Small But Deadly
Pinchurchin may be a small Pokemon, but it has the perfect coin flip move. For two Energy, Pinchurchin can perform Thunder Shock. This move only does 30 damage but has the potential to Paralyze your opponent’s Pokemon.

Mythical Island didn’t have a large amount of trainers, but most of them are impactful. Experiment and find out which ones are useful for you.
Paralyze is a fantastic Status Effect, since the Pokemon affected can no longer attack or retreat. It just sits there while Pinchurchin keeps hitting it. As a Basic Pokemon, Pinchurchin can be splashed into any Electric deck to add some stalling methods to your game plan and give you enough time to Evolve or set up.
3
Marowak ex
An Attack As Thick As Bone
Marowak ex has a beginner-friendly coin flip move for those who want to start using ex Pokemon right away. For two Energy Bonemerang will let you flip two coins and deal 80 damage for each heads.
This move is good because it deals a significant amount of damage even if you only get one good coin flip result. It is also low-cost and easy to set up since Marowak is only a Stage One Pokemon. Being a Fighting-type card also allows it to stomp over Electric types easily.
2
Zapdos ex
One Shocking Move
Zapdos ex’s Thundering Hurricane is the reason that it can stand alone in a deck full of items. For three energy, you can flip four coins, and for each heads, you get to deal 50 damage. This has an amazing potential with a damage cap of 200.

Pokemon Pocket: All ex Cards From Mythical Island, Ranked
Ex Pokemon are some of the strongest in Pokemon Pocket, and these cards from Mythical Island are all quite good.
The fact that this damage is distributed into four separate flips gives you better odds of being able to land one or two coins for some big damage. The moment you can pay for its Move, you can start knocking out your opponent’s Pokemon.
1
Moltres ex
Energy Acceleration For Fire
Moltres ex lets you flip three coins and distribute Energy equal to the number of heads that you land on. While Inferno Dance cannot fuel itself, it is the perfect way to get a powerful Pokemon like Charizard ready to dominate the field.
This move is also good for any Fire deck, since you can split the Energy among the Pokemon that need it most and not just one selected Pokemon.
