Ash is as good as anyone has ever been, but it was a long road to get there. At the start of his journey, Ash was an inexperienced trainer, let alone one of the best. trainer pokemon. By the end of the Masters Eight tournament, Ash has become a skilled and strategic trainer whose strong bond with his Pokémon allows him to achieve feats that few other trainers can.
Although Ash doesn't always have the best team building skills, he has caught some very powerful Pokémon during his travels that help him travel through the different regions he visits. In every region Ash visited, the strongest Pokémon held their own weight and won key matches when no other Pokémon could. Ash technically goes to Galar for the Masters Eight tournament, but he doesn't explore the region like he did in previous seasons, so there are no Galarian aces.

Kanto: Pikachu
Charizard served as Ash's ace in the original series, but by the end of his career, Pikachu was clearly Ash's ace. Ash's Pikachu has achieved some impressive feats that wouldn't be possible in the game, such as defeating Brock's Onix with a Thunderbolt. Pikachu is incredibly strong and fast, and can take down very powerful opponents.
There is no Pokémon Ash trusts more than Pikachu, and their bond only makes Pikachu stronger. Pikachu defeated Leon's Charizard, one of the most powerful Pokémon in the entire franchise, and also defeated several legendary Pokémon, including Tapu Coco and Regis. Pikachu also takes down Latios by bolt-tacking his way through the Luster Cannon, one of the coolest feats in the series. Pikachu is not only Ash's Kanto Ace, but also the entire team's Ace. Ash wouldn't have been able to win Masters Eight without Pikachu.

Last name: Heracross
Ash never really had an ace while in Johto. Although he regularly rotated between Pikachu, Cyndaquil, and Bayleef in most battles, Heracross stood out thanks to several impressive feats. Heracross would go on to become a major player in Johto's Silver Conference, allowing Ash to score against Gary and resolve their rivalry once and for all.
Heracross is a fast and powerful Pokémon that can fight against adversity like Pikachu. Heracross uses Gary's Magmar's flamethrower as a tank and still has enough energy to keep fighting. Ash's Heracross is a dependable and sturdy Pokémon that can pull its weight when pushed.

Hohen: Sceptile
Sceptile is one of the most powerful Pokémon Ash has on his team. Treecko was already a strong starter before he actually made a name for himself with Grovyle. Ash's Grovyle was the best Pokémon in the Hoenn League and had several important victories, including defeating Katie's Walrein in an incredible battle. Leaf Blade is downright lethal in the hands of Grovyle/Sceptile.
Grovyle finally evolved into a Sceptile in the Sinnoh League, giving Ash an untimely victory when Sceptile defeated Tobias' Darkrai in one of the best battles in anime. Ash didn't use Sceptile during the Masters Eight tournament, but that doesn't detract from his accomplishments. Defeating a legendary Pokémon is more than most Pokémon can claim.

Sinnoh: Infernape
Infernape is one of the best starters Ash has ever raised. pokemon Japanese cartoon movie. Infernape was originally owned by Paul as a Chimchar, but Paul abandoned him and Ash brought him to his team. This ends up being Paul's big mistake as Chimchar continues to become extremely powerful. Ash frequently uses Infernape during his travels in Sinnoh.
Not only that, Infernape actually wins most battles, boasting one of the best battle records of all of Ash's Pokémon, winning an impressive 77% of battles. Infernape's best fight is against Paul's Electivire at the Lily of the Valley Conference, where he defeats Paul's new ace in expert fashion.

Unova: Crocodile
Krokorok was a true staple of Ash's team on Unova. While Ash regresses to being a trainer. pokemon Adaptation of Animation black and whiteKrokorok proved that Ash was not completely hopeless. Even before it evolved into Crocodile, it proved to be a powerful and dependable Pokémon (although weaker than Pikachu).
While fighting Iris in the Pokémon World Tournament Junior Cup, Crokorok finally evolves into Crocodile. Krookodile is powerful enough to take out Dragonite. Krookodile makes a surprising appearance when Ash later fights Stephan. Unova may have taken a step back from Ash, but Krookodile really shined as one of the best Pokémon.

Carlos: Greninja
The bond between Ash and Greninja is truly amazing, and would rival his relationship with Pikachu if it weren't the basis of an entire anime. Greninja is one of the most powerful Pokémon on Ash's team and has some truly legendary feats. Greninja ultimately wins by resisting his tangible disadvantage against Sawyer's Mega Sceptile. Greninja also put up an incredible fight with Kalos' champion, Diantha's Mega Gardevoir.
Greninja becomes even stronger as he transforms into Ash-Greninja, a transformation born of the strong bond between Ash and Greninja. Ash releases Greninja from Kalos, so he won't be using him in the Masters Eight tournament, but that doesn't mean Greninja needs more time in the spotlight. Greninja has achieved remarkable feats throughout Kalos, engaging in numerous high-stakes battles while boasting a respectable record of victories.

Alola: Lycanroc
If it weren't for Lycanroc, Ash would never have won his first Pokémon League. Lycanroc was Ash's ace Pokémon during his time in Alola. Incineroar may be stronger, but Lycanroc's exploits and accomplishments have a much greater impact on Ash's journey as a trainer. Ash's Lycanrocfights against Gladion's Lycanrocin the final battle of the Manalo Conference and wins.
Lycanroc was also instrumental in Ash's victory over Nanu and Olivia. Lycanroc takes part in some of the important battles of Alola, eventually developing the skills needed to win Ash the League. Like Johto, Ash rotates his Pokémon fairly frequently in Alola, but Lycanroc is clearly the ace of the region.
