Mega Man 2 is now playable on collectible watches

Doom is the usual game of choice when it comes to dealing with outrageous items ranging from vape pens to cardboard boxes, but the iconic “boomer shooter” appears to be getting some competition in the form of Mega Man 2 and digital watch companies.

That's because My Play Watch, a company that makes watches that are perfect for playing classic games as well as other tasks, has revealed that the Mega Man 2 watch will be its next major release, with the collectibles targeted for release in June.

“Created in partnership with Capcom, this standalone digital gaming watch features a reimagined version of Mega Man 2 using actual sprites, environments, enemies, and music from the original game, adapted into a fast, accessible format designed for wrist-based play,” the website notes on the site.

Available for pre-order through GameStop, it costs $79.99.

You might be wondering right now, “How do I play Mega Man 2 on my wrist?”

Well, I’m glad you asked because it’s a lot simpler than you think.

Mega Man 2 Simplified

Because it is a wearable watch, gameplay is simplified with Mega Man executing each stage automatically. Players then touch the watch face to navigate jumps and hazards. The same goes for firing the Mega Buster. Quick taps do the same thing as spamming the controller.

It promises three game modes, from classic to arcade mode, and beyond being able to run classic titles, it actually works as a regular watch as well.

“The watch includes timekeeping and fitness tracking features, allowing users to monitor steps, heart rate, and calories throughout the day,” the description reads.

Time display elements include themed wallpapers, character displays, and pixel art.

Besides already doing quite a bit, watches are also huge collectibles. The GameStop package also includes two collectible watch bands, a collectible box, a bonus watch band, and a themed display stand.

“Featuring bold Mega Man-inspired colors, pixel art visuals, and interchangeable bands, this watch is designed to be worn, played with, and collected,” the product clearly states.

Overall, this is a very neat collectible that definitely bucks the trend of figures, replicas, and art books. This isn't the first watch on My Play Watch, as the company also has Atari, Space Invaders, and Tetris themed collectibles, all of which offer many of the same features and functions as the Mega Man watch.

Normally I'd be pretty bummed about Mega Man being part of another collectible rather than a solo adventure, but considering Dual Override is scheduled for release next year, bring on all the collectibles you want, Capcom.

The Disappearance of Haruhi Suzumiya Key Art

I can never watch an anime like The Melancholy of Haruhi Suzumiya again.

It's been 20 years since this legendary animation first appeared on our screens.
