Affected players say their internet connection is working properly and their Xbox Series X games are working without issues. The problem only starts when the player launches the Xbox 360 title. However, not all players appear to be affected in the same way. Some people report that Xbox 360 games do not work at all, while others report that some games work but others do not. Xbox Support released an official statement on social media saying they are actively investigating why some users are unable to “select backward compatible Xbox 360 games.”
Users in both In one Reddit thread, user GR1NTER shared a support message from Xbox, claiming that the newer console may have issues playing Xbox 360 games because it has not yet established a network link for eligibility verification and content delivery. Basically, newer consoles have not yet been verified on the appropriate servers and are more likely to cause problems than older consoles already installed on those servers. As of this writing, this has not been confirmed by an official explanation and the issue remains unresolved.

Regardless of where Xbox fans are flocking to, it's worrisome that this issue hasn't been resolved yet. Many Xbox fans will now effectively be unable to access their Xbox 360 libraries until a fix is released. The various workarounds and fixes discovered by the Xbox community only work to a certain extent and may not apply to everyone.
