Xbox's new CEO Asha Sharma is off to a good start with a few quick fixes to the ecosystem. That started with making Game Pass more affordable by eliminating the day-one launch of Call of Duty, which was Sharma's biggest win. There are also rumors of further changes to the subscription service, including a new tier of Discord Nitro and a version where you can choose your own games.
Exclusivity is another big aspect that Sharma and her new team have been mulling over, but discussions appear to still be ongoing. First and foremost, Xbox announced that it was switching back to its classic green logo to evoke nostalgia. It certainly seems to be working, and it seems like the branding team isn't done yet.
Xbox is working on dynamic backgrounds
Dynamic backgrounds in the console UI don't really add any value other than looking good, but fans have been wondering why the Xbox Series X and S didn't get these backgrounds. Sony's consoles have had this feature for a while, and it's just another feature that fans have been using as ammunition as they debate which one is better.
It looks like Xbox Series “This new treatment of the logo reflects even more personality than before. [are] I'm excited about what's to come. “Is there a chance we'll get a dynamic background for Series X|S with the new logo?” a fan account called Xbox Studio asked.
Xbox's future hangs in the balance following Phil Spencer's retirement.
Microsoft is making big changes to the Xbox brand, but few of them are good.
Sharma simply replied, “We’re working on it!” Unfortunately, there's no telling when these dynamic backgrounds will finally make their way to consoles, but Sharma's response is a positive sign for anyone who was hoping for them.
While this is all great, what she decides to do exclusively will be what fans are really excited about. Under the leadership of Phil Spencer and Sarah Bond, Xbox exclusivity was essentially gone, leaving many fans upset. The current leadership said they are discussing this.
