Chrollo Lucilfer has always been one of the most popular antagonists. Hunter × HunterGenerally one of the most beloved characters in the franchise. After being off the screen for quite some time, he and the Phantom Troupe are getting some much-needed focus in their current arc, the Succession Contest Arc. The last major arc involving the Phantom Troupe was Yorknew City.

The Succession Contest arc could very well represent the end of Chrollo, as Togashi recently dropped a hint about it. This could mean not only his death, but the complete destruction of the Phantom Troupe.

Chrollo Lucilfer was one of the most interesting antagonists. Hunter × Hunter Cartoons and animations. He was first mentioned in the Heaven's Arena arc, but made his official debut in the Yorknew City arc, the Phantom Troupe's first major arc. As fans know, Chrollo is the leader of the Phantom Troupe, also known as Spider.

The founding members of the troupe, including Chrollo and Franklin, Uvogin, Pakunoda, Machi, Feitan, Nobunaga, and Shalnark, created the troupe following events that occurred during their childhood in Meteor City. Sarsa's kidnapping and death had a huge impact on Chrollo and the others, and the desire for revenge is what started it all. The Phantom Troupe was involved in many incidents, including the massacre of the Kurta clan, linking them to Kurapika and wanting revenge on them for what they did to his clan. In fact, the troupe has already lost two members at his hands, with more likely to be added in the future.

Chrollo is a powerful Nen user and probably one of the best users seen in the Hunter x Hunter series. As a specialist, he has some very interesting and overwhelming abilities that make him just as versatile and powerful as he is. Chrollo's Nen ability, Skill Hunter, is one of the best abilities in the series. Skill Hunter is a specialization type of Nen ability that allows Chrollo to steal the Nen abilities of other characters when conditions are met. Chrollo must witness the Nen powers in action and question the user about the Nen powers. You will also need to have the victim place their hand on the thumbprint written in the book, and most importantly, all of this must be done within one hour. Fans have seen a lot of interesting abilities from Chrollo, and there's a lot more in stock to show off in the future. Some of his stolen abilities include Nen abilities such as Indoor Fish, Fun Fun Clothes, and The Sun and Moon.

Chrollo and Hisoka's relationship

In the Heaven's Arena arc, Hisoka is a member of the Phantom Troupe, specifically Spider's No. It turned out to be part of 4. However, despite being a member, Hisoka only joined with ulterior motives. This is because he had no interest in the troupe and rather wanted to fight with its leader, Chrollo. At the end of the Yorknew City arc, Chrollo lost his access to Nen because of Kurapika. This means Hisoka can't fight him. This meant that their fight would have to wait quite a while until Chrollo was able to remove the restrictions on Nen by the Exorcist, which happened sometime after what happened on Greed Island.

Hisoka and Chrollo will finally face off in the current arc. The two fought for their lives at Heaven's Arena. Chrollo prepared for this fight very meticulously, and even borrowed the abilities of his fellow troupe members Shalnak and Kortopi, so despite Hisoka's superior skills, the fight inevitably ended in his victory. This fight ended in Hisoka's death. However, the latter was resurrected by Bungee Gum's posthumous Nen abilities. The first thing Hisoka did after being resurrected was to eliminate Shalnak and Kortopi so that Chrollo could never use their abilities again. Hisoka has a new bloodlust for the Phantom Troupe.

This led the Troupe to hunt Hisoka to avenge their fallen members, and both the Troupe and Hisoka faced off against the Humpback Whale, with the possibility of a confrontation occurring.

Chrollo's death in Hunter x Hunter may be in the works.

Chrollo will die to kill Hisoka

Chrollo did not accept the deaths of his fellow Phantom Troupe members Shalnark and Kortopi at all. This is especially true since their deaths occurred not long after Uvogin and Pakunoda's deaths in the Yorknew City arc. This sent Chrollo into an even more determined state to end Hisoka once and for all.

In theory, Hisoka is currently unkillable. It is unknown if there is a limit to the number of times Hisoka can be revived with Bungee Gum. This could mean that he cannot be killed in traditional ways. If Chrollo wants to fight Hisoka again, he needs to find an ability to counter his posthumous Nen abilities.

Now aboard the Humpback Whale, Chrollo is making plans to hunt down Kakin's treasure. These include the Seed Jar, Zen Buddha, and Blade of Divine Favor. When Chrollo steals the national treasure, his Nen ability, Skill Hunter, evolves. This allows him to store extremely rare and powerful abilities in his book. Whatever his abilities, Chrollo is ready to sacrifice his life to take down Hisoka. This ability that Chrollo is seeking could kill him, or at least have a major impact on him.

Chrollo may also meet Hisoka before taking on this rare ability. This would more than likely mean death for Hisoka since he is much stronger now. Either way, Togashi appears to be setting up Chrollo's death in this arc, which will likely leave the Phantom Troupe without a leader. Other Phantom Troupe members may emerge to replace him as the new leader pushing Spider forward.

Since this is Hisoka and Kurapika's current goal, there is a possibility that the entire Phantom Troupe will be wiped out, and it is unknown what purpose the Phantasm Troupe will be used for in the story after the death of Chrollo Lucilper, so the characters will eventually arrive at the Dark Continent.

Chrollo also states that the Spiders as a whole are the priority rather than the head or individual members, which may foreshadow his own death in the future.
