Todd Howard admitted that he got the idea from fans on Reddit.

In recent years, Bethesda has stayed quiet about what it's working on until it's ready for release. That's why we haven't heard anything since The Elder Scrolls 6 was released, while Fallout 5 has been completely shut down.

But with Asha Sharma taking over Xbox and laying off thousands of employees in the process, Bethesda can no longer keep its cards close to its chest. Last week, the studio officially confirmed that remasters of Fallout 3 and New Vegas are in the works, although work is still ongoing on Starfield content and Fallout 5. In the meantime, Obsidian took over the reins of Fallout to create its own game.

But it doesn't end here. Whether forced by Sharma or of his own volition, Todd Howard himself is speaking directly to fans on Reddit. Admitting that he's a “professional lurker,” he previously took ideas from fans on Reddit and urged them to share what else they'd like to see from Bethesda.

Bethesda fans are asking Todd Howard for more decisions in TES 6 and fixes for Oblivion Remastered

Male and female Vault Dwellers standing in a row in Fallout 4.

“Hello Reddit. I'm a professional lurker and I read your comments all the time,” says Todd Howard. “Many people here do so, and we are deeply grateful for all the passion for our work.”

He acknowledged that the information we received last week was part of an effort to be more transparent. “We're constantly listening and it keeps us informed on how we can be better. You'd be surprised how many great ideas I get from Reddit. Recommend any ideas you like and I'll do it. They probably will.”

Currently, the most supported suggestions are all related to Oblivion Remastered.

Redditor GamerLove1 said, “I hope Virtuous will continue to patch Oblivion and give it as much love as you gave Skyrim. It's a shame it seems like Virtual has been abandoned now.”

LMY723 says, “Pay Virtuous what they need to make the remaster work properly.”

Others share what they'd like to see in Bethesda's future games.

RecruitElite said, “Let TES6 and F5 make choices and outcomes more meaningful.” “I love Fallout 3 and 4, but I feel like the amount of game-changing choices is lacking.

“Maybe certain factions clash with each other's views, so if you join one faction they'll hate you if you join another. Morrowind had a similar system, but they've gone away to allow us to join all factions like they don't care at all. Sometimes it feels like we're kind of on track and we can't play with the amazing sandbox you've created because we need access to it at the end of the day.”

Todd the Lurker has not yet responded to these comments, but it seems unlikely that the Lurker will. Right? We'll have to wait and see if TES 6 and Fallout 5 reflect this feedback, and if Oblivion Remastered finally fixes it.
