The Elder Scrolls 5: Skyrim It did a lot of things right, even though the main story left many fans lukewarm. One of its greatest successes is its world, which for the first time features hand-crafted unmarked locations, unique dungeons, and sprawling cities that actually feel like dynamic microcosms of NPCs. Skyrim It feels like a sandbox. It is a real world that you can stay and live in for a while and is full of personality even as the years go by.

Skyrim: How to Marry the 25 Best Wives
From Aela to Mjoll the lioness, here are tips for picking the best wives in Skyrim, winning their trust, and romancing them.
With not much news The Elder Scrolls 6 If the wait continues, it's a good time to jump back in. Skyrim Remember all our favorite places. If you're planning to start playing again soon, here are a few places you might want to revisit for old times sake. Or, if you're just catching up on the latest news from Bethesda. Elder Scrolls If you're into gaming, be sure to add these places to your itinerary.
whiterun
First city and first home loved
It's hard to pick just one good city in Skyrim. Solitude has an impressive look, but many players don't naturally get there until late in the game. Whiterun, on the other hand, is close to Helgen, and the main quest will take you there early on. Player Homes are the most accessible in the game, as they are the cheapest to purchase and upgrade, and their central location makes them a great place to set up your base of operations.
Visually, Dragonsreach towers over the rest of the city, from the beautiful, bustling marketplace to the fountain area where the Talos statue is found. You can also meet many iconic characters here. The second most memed character after Nazeem, Jarl Barlgruuf is the character that has you wondering if you can go to the Cloud District. Of course not! Whiterun is an unforgettable place, as it is a safe haven and a nostalgic first home for most players.
Azura's Shrine
The great statue of Azura in the background is truly spectacular
If the Temple of Azura looks vaguely familiar, that's because this iconic statue is very similar to its actual twin in Turkey. A visual masterpiece, this shrine is located in the northeastern part of Skyrim before reaching Winterhold and above Windhelm in the cold, frosty mountains. This desolate place looks like something out of a fantasy book and its glory can be seen from afar.
When you approach it, you'll meet a lone priestess and become entangled in one of the game's many Daedric quests. Although the quest itself isn't the best, it's worth coming to this location to visit at least once to take in the sights around it, and it's a stop everyone should make on their way to Winterhold.
throat of the world
The highest point in Skyrim is literally uphill.
Another major quest location is called the Throat of the World, which is the highest point in the entire province. The mountain is so impressive that it can be viewed from numerous viewpoints, even from afar. It can be a nice challenge to try and expand on different angles, but the easiest way is to climb the stairs at Ivarstead like a true pilgrim.
You will visit this location early on, after defeating the first dragon and being summoned to High Hrothgar by Greybeard. The location is also very impressive, with a path leading much further to where you will eventually talk to Paarthurnax. The impressive heights and bleak, snowy and windy views are SkyrimOnce you complete this part of the game and learn your first shout, you'll never forget it.
puffy man cave
Nice cave with nice blades.
You can also randomly wander into a cave known as the Bloated Man's Grotto, located north of Lake Ilinalta on the other side of the mountain range. This is one of the most beautiful caves in Skyrim due to the abundance of greenery, and towards the end of the cave you will find the Secret Sanctuary of Talos, which contains some loot, including the magical katana, Vola's Oathblade.
If you're looking for a unique weapon, definitely bypass this place. Otherwise, the Daedric quest for Hircine, Ill Met by Moonlight will eventually lead you here to eliminate Sindig. Most caves in Skyrim tend to be dark, dirt caves, but these, along with Ancestor Glade and other caves we'll cover later, are some of the most jaw-dropping mini-dungeons you'll come across.
maze
One of the best ruins in Northern Europe
A feature of Skyrim is the variety of Norse ruins you'll wander through, and Labyrinthian is certainly one of the largest and most impressive. Considering that handcrafted dungeons have been one of Skyrim's main selling points, it's only natural to include Labyrinthian among its most iconic locations. It has a huge, elaborate outdoor area and was once one of Longqiao's crowning jewels.
Some tales say this was likely once the provincial capital, and from the looks of it, it doesn't seem that far away. Collectors can also grab all eight Dragon Priest Masks to get their hands on the ninth mask. You can come here at any time, but if you start the College of Winterhold quest first, you'll come here naturally. There is also Lost Valkygg, a separate dungeon that is not connected to the quest line.
forkless
Wooded areas contrast with crevices.
It was a tough choice between the autumnal glory of the Rift Forest and the deep green and wooded areas of Falkreath. So this time I chose Falkreath Hold. It's also a kind of symbolic hold, since it's technically where the Dragonborn's story begins. As a prisoner, you are making your way to Helgen, where you encounter a dragon for the first time and must make a narrow escape.
The look is absolutely perfect, and if you're interested in some graphics and appearance mods, you can make the Forest of Falkreath look more appealing with a few tweaks. There's also a fun little Daedric quest involving a talking dog, and of course, a secret entrance into the sanctuary of a shadowy group that people only whisper about.
forgotten valley
Unforgettable sub-locations from the Dawnguard DLC
As time went on, we mentioned one of the DLC locations. It was another difficult choice between Forgotten Vale and Tel Mithryn. Tel Mithryn is found in Solstheim and is a nice callback to the exotic and strange landscapes of Morrowind. But Forgotten Vale's glacial, bleak views give it a bit of an edge. It's also a bit magical because of the lore implications of the whole place for the Snow Elves and Falmer.
We only see twisted forms of Falmer in the Dwemer ruins, so it's a little magical to actually see what one of their homes looks like. It is here that you will find Auriel's Bow, but it is also here that you will see the twin dragons emerge from the ice in a dazzling display. In fact, it's one of the reasons I'm jumping into Dawnguard's quest line, just to experience it all again.
Sovngarde
The stage for Skyrim's final battle
Sovngarde is a place where players can hear stories spoken in a religious or superstitious context in the game, until the main quest ultimately leads to a confrontation with Alduin. The underworld of Northern Europe, where the eternal feast of heroes unfolds, is a truly beautiful place. The sky shines with red aurora, and when you first arrive here, you can see statues and ruins in the distance.
Then there's Tsun, the final challenge before passing into the afterlife and the boss fight of the main quest. while Skyrim's The main story is somewhat lackluster as it doesn't give the player much choice. I have to admit, this is an amazing setting for the pinnacle of the game.
Elderglim Sanctuary
The most beautiful sanctuary of Cynares
Previously we discussed some of the iconic and beautiful natural caves that Skyrim has, but nothing beats the visual appearance of Eldergleam Sanctuary. This is the best place to visit during the quest because you need a special weapon given by Danica Suncheon to get close to the holy water in the center. This quest can be started by visiting the Temple of Kynareth in Whiterun.
The pillars of light illuminating the massive trees with massive roots blocking the way to get closer to everything create this super cinematic experience for such a small and simple quest. They didn't have to try that hard to make this place beautiful, but they did. It's a true testament to Bethesda's environmental storytelling skills, skills they'll be able to showcase once again in the franchise's final sixth game.
Blackreach
The moment I thought I had seen it all
The moment I first set foot in Blackreach was truly magical. By now you've probably explored all kinds of dungeons, caves, and even underwater locations, and climbed high mountains. Blackreach surprises you as you enter through one of its three Dwemer city entrances.
This is an ornate, vast cave filled with bioluminescent lights, dangerous Dwemer and Falmer enemies, and secret underground dragon encounters. Come when you are ready to fight hard against your enemies. It's a harder place, but it's because it's visually incomparable. There's nothing more magical than Bethesda's Underdark. This shows just how much love and attention to detail was put into building Skyrim's world.
