The Nintendo Switch 2 port for Borderlands 4 was shelved by Take-Two Interactive earlier this year. After promised stories about how great the platform would be for the game, reports have emerged that Borderlands 4 is having a tough time on Switch 2. Eventually, all talk of the port quieted down except for a few die-hard fans.
In fact, some people have started calling it “playing Borderlands 4.” With fans wondering what's happening with the Switch port, Take-Two Interactive CEO Strauss Zelnick has finally given us an answer. Unfortunately, the answer won't make fans happy. The developers are currently focused on improving the game on other platforms, and will begin work on a Switch 2 port once that's complete. Anytime.
Borderlands Switch 2 port is not a priority for Gearbox
In an interview with Game File, Zelnick revealed that the pause for the Borderlands 4 Switch 2 port is just that: a pause. It has not been cancelled, and the developers are currently working to fix performance issues with the PC version. Unfortunately, he didn't say when this issue would be resolved or when work would resume on the Switch 2 version.
“We've been working through these issues and want to make sure we have a complete handle on Borderlands 4 from a consumer perspective before releasing it on more platforms,” he said. “It is possible.” It may take some time to fix performance issues in the PC version. Especially since it seems to appear regularly after updates.

'Another Day, Another Univere' is the best looter shooting game.
However, this does clarify speculation that the port is being cancelled, especially after reports that it was performing horribly. However, he made it clear that Switch 2 is not a priority. “We want to be where the consumer is and we have supported Switch 2,” he added. “If you look at what we are doing and what we are not doing, you will see that our main console platforms remain Sony and Microsoft.”
