With a whopping 56 characters, you might be wondering where to start when building a competitive team, but Marvel vs. Capcom 2 wasn't built with balance in mind. Marvel vs. Most characters in Capcom 2 are not relevant to tournament play, so you only need to learn a few characters to create a competitive team.
This is a game worth learning, and usually the character with the highest skill gap is also the best character. Even if you're interested in playing a lower-tier character, you should consider playing the basics of the best teams so you can learn what they can and can't do.
10 Mega Man/Cable/Tronbone
- Cable joins Ruby Heart in Marvel vs. He is the main character of Capcom 2.
- Unlike the Mega Man Legends series, Tron Bonne is not fully protected by robot armor.
One of the more unusual mid-tier teams is Mega Man/Cable/Tron Bonne. Mega Man is a character whose stock price is rising. Mega Man's projectile game is perfect for blasting top-tier games like Magneto and Storm out of the air. Mega Man is also one of the few characters capable of single-frame attacks, allowing him to trade at close range with Magneto. Tron Bonne has assists that deal massive damage at precisely the right time, synergizing well with most of Marvel vs Capcom 2's larger rosters.
Mega Man is very good at building meter, so he makes the perfect battery to tag Cable with a single-frame super that can combo three times on its own. Mega Man works well with Tron Bonne. Because you can corner your opponents and keep them in a long-shot stun for Tron Bonne's devastating projectile support.
9 Magneto/Storm/Psylocke
- The team is known as “MSP” in competitive play.
- Magneto is the main antagonist of the first game of “Vs”. Series, X-Men: Children of the Atom.
Marvel vs. The most iconic team in Capcom 2 is Magneto/Storm/Psylocke. It is closely related to the fighting game's dash archetype, utilizing Storm and Magneto's multidimensional flight abilities and high dash speeds to overwhelm their opponent's defenses.
Due to Magneto and Storm's offensive nature, they gain a significant advantage from their powerful anti-air abilities. This is where Psylocke appears. Psylocke is a decent character, but is usually only used as a secondary character to help set up combos.
8 Cable/Sentinel/Captain Commando
- Captain Commando was designed as Capcom's mascot.
- If you combine the first three letters of Captain and Commando, you get Capcom.
This is the team of choice for most beginners who want a top-notch setup. Once you learn how to super-execute Cable's Hyper Viper Beam in the air, you'll be able to achieve 100% combos without having to master difficult sequences.
Sentinel has some of the best statistics in the game, although he is more mechanically advanced than Cable, as he learns to fly and not fly at will for better combos. Sentinels boast the best range, high aerial mobility, powerful projectiles, most health, and their normal attacks deal chip damage. Even without knowing Sentinel's best skills, he remains a difficult character for others to handle.
Captain Commando's anti-aircraft secondary covers the entire screen vertically and is an excellent tool for controlling space. However, Captain Commando's combat abilities are nothing special, so it's best to tag him if possible.
7 Rogue/Colossus/Ken
- Ken is completely invincible while using Shoryuken.
- Rogue's super powers are based on an arc stolen from Captain Marvel (Carol Danvers).
Perhaps the best mid-tier team, this offensive rushing group doesn't require a high skill ceiling to execute. Rogues are fast, have solid attack power, and have unstoppable movement that mixes up their opponents. Colossus' jumping head butt super may look strange, but it's very versatile and can deal a lot of damage.
Ken's Ryuken is completely invincible and can disrupt many opponents' attacks. Ken's Shoryuken assist sends opponents full screen, giving Rogue and Colossus, who lack a good twist, some breathing room. Alternatively, Ken's Tatsu assist can cover horizontal ground and leave your opponent stunned long enough to follow up with an attack combo.
Considering how easy it is to drop combos with characters like Storm and Magneto, this team is a great match for Marvel vs. This is a great team for those who are still learning the technical aspects of Capcom 2 but want to compete.
6 Spiral/Cable/Sentinel
- Spiral comes from an alternate dimension called Mojoworld.
- This dub is called Team Duc.
Spiral is a difficult character that not many people play due to a lack of understanding of Marvel characters and the character's low popularity. She is Marvel vs. You can avoid danger by using powerful projectiles from your sword attack that deal serious chip damage along with one of the best teleports in Capcom 2.
Cable and Sentinel are both top-tier characters with powerful projectiles that deal significant chip damage. Spiral/Cable/Sentinel is a team that can stop aggressive characters like Iron Man and Magneto.
5 Sentinel/Strider/Doctor. fate
- Known as Team Clockwork.
- Sentinel's design is original and not based on any specific comic.
Sentinel/Strider/Doctor. Doom is Marvel vs. The speed is different from most of Capcom 2's ultra-fast teams. It revolves around Strider's super ability, which causes him to throw energy spheres when he presses the attack button. This trap immobilizes most enemies, leaving Dr. Makes you vulnerable to projectile-focused support from Doom and Sentinel.
Strider is Dr. This is probably the best character on Capcom's part because of his synergy with Doom. But dr. Strider's damage output without Doom is seriously underwhelming, and it has one of the lowest health bars in the game.
4 Anakaris/Cable/Dhalsim
- Cable wasn't originally going to be Cyclops' son in the comics.
- Anakaris is one of four characters in the Darkstalker series.
Anakaris is one of the most difficult characters to deal with. He has the ability to turn you into a useless puppet, and if you're not careful, he could use Dhalsim to help hook you into an endless loop. Dhalsim is one of the most difficult characters to use, as he has high execution, low health, and relies more on situational setup for large combos. However, he offers great mobility, long-range stabs, and high-damage aerial combos that can stand up to the top tiers.
The biggest downside to this team is that both Anakaris and Dhalsim are weak. A simple mistake and they will probably fall. Anakaris and Dhalsim don't use much meter, so it's useful to have a character who can discard them. Cable or other characters with spammy supers are good choices. Alternatively, people like to use SonSon with Anakaris.
3 Magneto/Storm/Sentinel
- Magneto has an infinite combo called “ROM”.
- Storm shares the same voice actor as Psylocke, Spiral, and Jill Valentine.
Marvel vs. In Capcom 2, the strongest teams usually have a third character as a secondary character, but Magneto/Storm/Sentinel follows the formula of having three of the strongest on-point characters. Storm and Magneto are the two fastest characters and can easily attack the crossover characters with their air dash that allows them to move in eight different directions. Despite the character imbalance, it is this team's speed and high skill ceiling that makes MvC 2 one of the best fighters.
Sentinel is not only arguably the best on-point character, but he also provides very good assists. The biggest downside to this team, aside from the lack of top-notch assists, is that Magneto and Storm take quite a while to learn, and learning both from scratch can be overwhelming.
2 Sentinel/Storm/Captain Commando
- Sentinel has the fastest flight speed.
- Sentinels have super armor that allows them to absorb a single attack without affecting their movement.
Storm and Sentinel are the best fliers in the game, so they can harass most characters on the ground with their air pressure. However, both Storm and Sentinel can easily escape their opponents and rejoin the fight once their meter is full.
In addition to her basic flight ability, Storm has a maneuver ability that allows her to fly in one direction three times. The Sentinel's incredible speed and long-range lunge mean that chasing him runs the risk of being counterattacked. Captain Commando is there to maintain air dominance and punish other aspirants.
1 Magneto/Iron Man/Psylocke
- Iron Man was the first Marvel vs. Replaced by Capcom with War Machine.
One of the most executed yet incredibly powerful teams, Magneto/Iron Man/Psylocke is a glass cannon team that revolves around highly destructive combos. Magneto can overwhelm his opponents without using any meter, and hopefully he can use his super powers to make a powerful tag to Iron Man.
Iron Man may look like a projectile spammer on the surface, but he has 100% combos built in. It's very easy to mess up Iron Man's infinite combo, but if you get it down, you can top-two it. Hierarchical characters. Often these two are paired with Sentinel, but considering the firepower they already have, a character with a strong assist like Psylocke may provide better combo opportunities.
