1
Papa West
Helldivers meets Cowboy Chaos
details:
-
Fast-paced missions with multiple objectives
-
A satisfying progression system for all types of players
Papa West is one of the most surprising releases of 2026, not only for FPS games, but for the industry as a whole. You and your friends are tasked with racing through the wilderness to find treasure, accomplish objectives, and battle hordes of enemies.
The gameplay loop is very similar to this: Helldiver 2You can freely move between locations and earn as much gold and resources as you want. After successfully completing a mission, you can return to the saloon to upgrade everything from your guns to your personal stats, and there are also some very interesting additions such as the Joker, which radically changes the way the game is played. Even though it's early access, I'm still surprised by how much content there is, and I can't wait to see what's in store for it later.
2
Mouse: PI Rent
Black and white has never been this stylish
details:
-
Classic rubber hose animation style
-
Tight boomer-shooter shootout
Mouse: PI It caught my attention the moment I saw the first trailer, and I can honestly say that the finished product not only lived up to my expectations, but exceeded them. As classy detective Jack Pepper, it's up to you to uncover a sordid conspiracy spreading across the city, and the only way to uncover the truth is with a healthy dose of gunpowder.

A 5FPS video game series better than Borderlands
Borderlands is the king of FPS games and looter shooters. But can the next series steal the throne?
Like many other boomer shooters, the main focus is on fast-paced action and compelling gameplay, with access to a diverse list of weapons and tools that keep that momentum from slowing down. If you're an FPS fan looking for a unique take on the classic formula, you'll be hard-pressed to find another game this year that captures the same charm and energy. Mouse: PI.
3
The road to Vostok
details:
-
Single player extraction loop
-
It's more tense and challenging overall.
Extraction shooters have exploded in popularity over the past few years, but most opt for a PvP gameplay style that pits them against many other hungry players for the same loot pool. For The road to VostokThat idea is completely removed and instead thrusts you into a world filled with AI enemies that are still very combat capable.
Instead of focusing on constant gunfights, the game emphasizes tension, resource management, and deliberate decision-making, allowing you to really control the pace of combat without it feeling too overwhelming. I was impressed by the dedication to the game's atmosphere and spent countless sessions just learning how to navigate the map and engage enemy factions. Because if you don't have time to prepare, all that precious loot will quickly be lost forever.
4
Luna Abyss
definition of bullet hell
details:
-
Amazing locations and enemies
-
Rewarding gunplay that feels truly intense
Luna Abyss It's fast, spooky, and full of fun, combining bullet hell action with high mobility to create an FPS experience that's hard to put down. It mixes high-speed first-person movement with dense, bullet-hell encounters. As they descend into the abyss below, players must also complete a variety of missions that will push them to their absolute limits in terms of goals and stamina.

The 8 Best FPS Video Game Trilogies of All Time, Ranked
This trilogy isn't just good. They helped redefine the entire first-person shooter genre in one way or another.
The biggest advantage of this game is that it feels different from traditional shooting games. Take inspiration from titles like: return and fateYou're as focused on movement as you are on goals, and as someone who really values unique gameplay styles, I have no problem rating this game as one of the best FPS games to come out in years.
5
Resident Evil Requiem
The hot streak continues
details:
-
It switches between pure survival horror and action.
-
A perfectly realized dual narrative.
Resident Evil Requiem It once again shows that Capcom is unrivaled in the survival horror genre. Unlike many other modern works and remakes, you can actually choose between first-person and third-person gameplay. The former offers a much more intense and intimate gameplay style, making the scares more challenging and the action feel more brutal than ever.
The dual narrative between Grace and Leon was very well executed, always vacillating between pure fear and survival horror at the perfect moment, never feeling like it stayed with one character for too long. I played it for the first time in third person, but looking at it again from a different perspective, I actually prefer the latter, and compared to the competition in the wider genre, there are few horror games that can hold a candle to the past either in 2026 or not.
