Trying each one Subject: Swarm's You can earn a variety of upgrades as you take on deadly challenges and fend off hordes of Tems along the way. As your chosen Tem levels up, you can choose from a variety of skills and equipment to improve their abilities. While skills are very valuable and expand your options for attacking incoming swarms, Gears instead provide passive bonuses that can modify and strengthen those skills or the Tem itself.
Subject: flock At the time of this writing, there is a wide variety of gear available, but not all gear is created equal, so this guide will break down some of the most commonly useful items you can get while running. Naturally, when considering what gear to add to your build, it's important to consider your playstyle and the Tem you're using. This is because some gear proves to be much more valuable in certain builds and certain playstyles.

Temtem Swarm: How to Upgrade Your Gear
Upgrading gear is a great way to make Tem harder to beat in Temtem: Swarm. Players struggling with this issue should check out this guide.
Best Temtem gear: Swarm (common)
In this section, we'll discuss the best gear to choose for most situations, regardless of your item selection and general play style. This is almost universally applicable when looking to power up your build, making it a solid choice in most situations.
- Holster: The holster is a simple but powerful piece of equipment that adds one additional projectile to your ranged skills. This affects a surprising number of skills, including several that don't fire regular projectiles (such as Houchic's Tentacle Slash, which summons whipping tentacles near enemies). Unless you avoid ranged skills for one reason or another, this is almost always a fantastic choice. Or something else.
- Bolgon scale: The Volgon Scale increases all damage dealt by Tem, making it one of the simplest and most universally applicable pieces of equipment in the game. This is always a solid option as it boosts all your skills that deal damage. You can even stack it with element-specific damage boosters like Third Eye or Motherboard to further increase damage.
- sonar: Sonar increases attack range, meaning larger projectiles and greater AOE for all AOE effects. This makes it a fantastic choice as it is fantastic for tearing apart swarms and fending off enemies more efficiently.
- Stimpak: If you're firing projectiles, the Stimpack is fantastic. Increases rate of fire and significantly reduces delay between shots for attacks using multiple projectiles. It would be even better if you could also reduce the cooldown of that attack.
- Kismet Lens: A good choice if you enjoy critical hits, Kismet Lens helps increase your critical strike chance, making your critical hits lighter and dealing extra damage.
- Resurrection Kit: Sometimes the swarm may outrun or overwhelm you, and your Tem will be defeated. Once fully upgraded, you get a resurrection kit that gives you two resurrections to help you escape deadly situations. It won't actually help you fight the swarm, but it will at least help you get back into the fight if something goes wrong. Since it can be revived through the efforts of allies, it is a bit less useful in multiplayer.
- Kusanagi: A little more situational than the previous options, Kusanagi increases damage to Mino-Bosses and bosses, making it an excellent choice for the mid to late game. This is especially true if you've unlocked additional equipment slots on your chosen Tem. This allows you to activate all skill synergies while freely selecting slots.
While these pieces of gear are useful in almost any situation, it's important to note that many Tem skills can be upgraded if you choose the right gear. For example, you can upgrade your Tornado skill to Tornado+ if you have a Protein Bar in one of your equipment slots. This allows you to launch multiple tornadoes in a cone and easily wipe out hordes of enemies.
This mechanic allows you to prioritize the equipment used for these synergies early on, often giving you faster access to these powerful skills.
