  • The Movie Pack DLC for Sonic

  • The DLC only contains one stage with Act 1, no Act 2 or boss fight.

  • The stage is filled with intrusive cutscenes.

The Movie Pack DLC for Sonic Players will briefly be able to play as a version of Shadow that will appear in the upcoming movie Sonic the Hedgehog 3.

And when we say simply, we really mean it. simply. We already knew that the pack would only contain one level, but it turns out that single level is much shorter than expected. Players can complete the level in just over two minutes, much faster if they skip the cutscenes that interrupt the stage.

Fans complain that movie scenes end too quickly and are interrupted by cutscenes.

As you can see in the video, the levels are incredibly short, especially with the cutscenes removed. However, even with the addition of cutscenes, players still share a completion time of just over two minutes.

Steam reviews are also mixed, with many negative comments citing the DLC's short run time.

The biggest problem here is that this is only one level with no Act 2 stages or boss battles. This is very strange, considering this feature is available elsewhere in the game. It also means we don't hear much of Keanu Reeves' take on Shadow, as this version of the character isn't playable outside of this stage.

Sega admits Sonic Superstars was a “disappointment”

That's not surprising, considering it was released very close to Super Mario Bros. Wonder.

At least the Movie Pack isn't that expensive. You'll get $5.99 back. This may still be a bit high for about two minutes of content, but it's still relatively cheap for DLC. We'll probably have to wait and see if more movie tie-ins are planned after its December 20th release.

Anyway, we are now finishing the Year of Shadows. Sonic It was re-released in October to positive reviews.
