solo leveling was originally produced as a web novel by Chugong on July 25, 2016. The story gained immense popularity and was soon adapted into a comic by Redice Studio in March 2018. Although it was immensely popular, it wasn't until January 2024 that it finally received an anime adaptation from Japanese studios A-1 Pictures and Aniplex, which exploded its popularity around the world. Solo Leveling Season 1 was a sensation, and Season 2, which officially released on Crunchyroll on January 4, 2025, was even bigger. Needless to say, the series was a huge success, especially for Crunchyroll.
With Solo Leveling ranking among Crunchyroll's biggest series, it was only a matter of time before fans were updated on the next project. May 22, 2026 Crunchyroll CEO Rahul Purini finally commented on the series in a new interview with RadioTimes. Crunchyroll's CEO said that while there are no confirmed shows yet, there is one they are actively working on. With that in mind, we can all rest easy knowing that A-1 Pictures and Aniplex are working on something. He hopes something can be announced soon, which means it could be in 2026.

Solo Leveling producer Atsushi Kaneko also hinted at something big coming in early May 2026.

Earlier this month, at the Mumbai Comic Con held from May 9-10, 2026, renowned Solo Leveling producer Atsushi Kaneko also spoke about the future of Solo Leveling. He told fans he needs more time in the studio, but is currently working on something interesting. He also said that “something” will be shared soon, hinting that there will be a major solo leveling reveal in 2026.
The next season of Solo Leveling officially grants Jinwoo the power of a king
Seong Jin-woo, the protagonist of Solo Leveling, is scheduled to officially ascend to the throne in the next animation.
This reveal could reveal future solo leveling projects through a brief announcement, teaser, or key visual. For now, you'll have to be patient as A-1 Pictures and Aniplex are preparing to reveal to fans what they've been working on.

Solo Leveling Could Get a New Movie in 2027
There are currently no concrete projects announced for solo leveling, but something is clearly in the works. In that sense, a rather interesting leak has led to rampant speculation. A leaked 2025 Commission report has revealed that A-1 Pictures has plans to produce a solo leveling film following the box office success of Demon Slayer: Infinity Castle. This leads me to believe that Solo Leveling's next work may have the potential to be a movie.
But Rahul Purini's new comments seem to point in a different direction. According to Rahul Purini's statement, it seems more likely that his next project will be Solo Leveling Season 3, as he referred to the upcoming project as a “show” rather than a term used to describe a theatrical film release. Either way, both projects are possible, and only time will tell which direction the studio will take Jinwoo's story.
