Saros is outselling Astro Bot and other older PlayStation games.

It's not entirely clear how well Saros has performed in terms of sales, as PlayStation has yet to share official figures. But estimates show that despite being newer than nearly every PlayStation game available, sales this year are lagging behind internal competitors.

Saros' revenue estimates so far have been provided by Alinea Analytics. Although not exact, the formula Alinea uses is a reliable formula and historically, when the numbers are officially released, they tend to be very close to the actual numbers.

Saros doesn't seem to be selling very well.

According to Alinea, Saros sold approximately 415,000 copies. Because it was released earlier this year. It's one of two PlayStation published games on the list for release this year. MLB The Show 26 sold 756,000 copies So far this year. A regularly released sports simulation series game, it is expected to sell better than the single-player story game Saros.

There is no mention of Marathon or God of War Sons of Sparta. This could mean that Saros hasn't sold more than it has so far. However, these numbers are for PS5 only, so they don't include Marathon's PC and Xbox sales.

Second place this year, behind a sports game franchise, isn't bad, but unfortunately for Saros, it's not that simple. Housemarque's latest game ranks sixth on the Alinea list. That's because games released on older PlayStations sold significantly more copies this year, despite their age. One of them was to be available from 2022.

Games released by PlayStation have a longer sales period than you might think.

The 2022 release is Gran Turismo 7 estimated to sell 835,000 copies So far this year, Saros' numbers have more than doubled. It's very impressive, and proof that not only the latest game, but the entire Gran Turismo series has legs or wheels. With Forza Horizon releasing on PS5 with a lot of buzz, some people may have questioned whether there's still a thirst for GT. Obviously there is.

Gran Turismo 7 is second only to Ghost of Yotei. Yotei is believed to have launched the Sucker Punch sequel in a big way by the fourth quarter of 2025 and then continued the momentum into 2026. Sold 1.1 million more copies During the first six months of this year.

Spider-Man 2 is right there too. Although he is due to celebrate his third birthday later this year, Approximately 699,000 copies It has been sold in the last 6 months. Unless you're a Saros fan, the most welcome surprise is Astro Bot. The radio silence about official sales has Astro Bot fans like me a little worried. Such concerns seemed, on the surface, unwarranted. yes Astrobot sales estimated at 601,000 units By 2026, approximately 4.3 million units of Alinea had been sold since launch.

As with Astro Bot, whether or not you should worry about Housemarque will ultimately depend on what PlayStation expects from the studio in terms of sales. Saros' sales appear to be on par with those of Returnal, and Returnal's sales seem to have been enough to keep Housemarque in PlayStation's good books.

There is currently concern surrounding sales and studio closures due to what Xbox appears to be doing to some smaller developers. PlayStation's track record, which recently closed Bluepoint, is flawless by any measure. The difference with Housemarque is that in the current environment, they release games at a steady pace. Five years between games may seem like a long time, but compare that to PlayStation-owned Naughty Dog. It's been six years since the last game, with Naughty Dog not even hinting at a release window for their next title, Intergalactic: The Heretic Prophet. PlayStation needs a trustworthy studio releasing games that perform well enough to turn a profit, and Housemarque seems to fit that description, even if its sales numbers don't compare to other first-party blockbusters.
