ROG Xbox Ally lets you play Spider-Man, The Last Of Us, and other PlayStation exclusive content.

The ROG Xbox Ally isn't an Xbox per se, but it's decked out in Microsoft branding with a custom Windows OS that makes it oddly close to seeing people running PlayStation exclusives like Marvel's Spider-Man 2.

Deck Wizard, a YouTuber who focuses on all things handheld gaming, posted a clip of Insomniac's hit sequel running on console, and it handles surprisingly well. But for $1,000, you'll want a seamless experience. Then, with that money, I could buy a PS5. and Use Steam Deck and use Remote Play.

I even ran Bloodborne through an emulator.

Still, this is a nice addition to the ROG Xbox Ally's extensive library, made possible by the fact that, like many other handhelds appearing in the post-Steam Deck world, the new hardware from Microsoft and Asus is essentially a gaming PC wrapped in a Switch package. The new interface also allows you to launch games from various stores in the integrated library. This means that any PlayStation exclusive game released on Steam will be easily available on your custom OS.

All PlayStation games available on ROG Xbox Ally

PlayStation exclusives that can now run on Xbox (portable) include:

    • Ghost of Tsushima.

    • Marvel's Spider-Man remastered.

    • Marvel's Spider-Man: Miles Morales.

    • Marvel's Spider-Man 2.

    • Helldiver 2.

    • Lego Horizon Adventure.

    • Horizon Zero Dawn Remastered.

    • Horizon Forbidden West.

    • Until Dawn (2024).

    • God of war.

    • Ragnarok, God of War.

    • Ratchet and Clank: Rift Apart.

    • Returns.

    • Uncharted: A Thief's Legacy Collection.

    • A day has passed.

    • Sackboy: Big adventure.

    • The Last of Us Part 1.

    • The Last of Us Part 2 Remastered.

The Xbox Ally isn't the first-party handheld gaming device that Microsoft reportedly abandoned plans for after seeing Steam Deck sales, but it sets an interesting precedent. If there's another generation of Xbox consoles, and as reports suggest, they're PC hybrids, they'll probably be able to utilize the same library of PlayStation exclusives.

Although opinions are somewhat divided. Windows Central editor-in-chief Jez Corden suggested earlier this year that PlayStation could block games from running on Xbox's custom OS by blocking them from running on that console. But Verge reporter Tom Warren argued that this might not be possible. “I’m very curious how Sony can force Valve to block Steam games.”

Sony has decided not to block games on ROG Xbox Ally. Even if this move is possible, it looks like Warren is right and the next-gen Xbox will be able to take advantage of the wealth of exclusives that have recently been released on PC.
