Resident Evil Requiem is already in the top 10 single-player games of all time on Steam.

Resident Evil Requiem was always going to be one of the biggest games of 2026. The series has seen some resurgence since 2017's Resident Evil and 2019's Resident Evil 2 Remake, with both new and old viewers flocking to Capcom's survival horror franchise.

With Requiem released just a few hours ago, it was once again clear how popular the series is. That's because it's already swept the top 10 player counts on Steam, making it the biggest Resident Evil release on the platform in doing so.

Resident Evil Requiem's player count has already put it in the top ten single-player games on Steam.

According to SteamDB, in just an hour and a half after launch, 267,509 players were simultaneously playing Resident Evil Requiem on Steam. This is the 56th highest concurrent player count in the platform's history and the 10th highest ever, excluding all titles with a multiplayer component.

It's unlikely that the game will reach the same heights as Black Myth: Wukong or Cyberpunk 2077, but it's only been out a few hours. Games typically reach their maximum number of concurrent players on Steam during their release weekend, so it's possible that Requiem will rank much higher on the list in the coming days.

In its opening hours, Resident Evil Requiem surpassed all previous Resident Evil titles, as well as games like Kingdom Come: Deliverance 2, Stardew Valley, and The Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion Remastered.

Based on reviews, Requiem became the highest-rated new Resident Evil title in 20 years. TheGamer reviewer Jade King said, “Rather than cannibalizing each other, making it less than tragic, we've reached a point where anxiety-inducing horror and outrageous explosive action can exist together.
