KIEV: Ukrainian gold medalist boxer Oleksandr Kizniak gave a military salute to a crowd gathered to celebrate his return to the war-torn country from the Paris Olympics. The 29-year-old was greeted by fans, friends and family as he stepped off the Olympic Express train at Kiev’s central station. The Poltava native is also a member of the Ukrainian Border Guard. He is the first athlete to win a gold medal at the 2024 Olympics, bringing the prize home.
