steam is testing a new feature called Personal Calendar to make it much easier for users to find the games they're interested in. A new feature added to Steam is now available for users to try out.
With thousands of games released every year, there is no shortage of options for gamers and there are plenty of games out there to pique their interest. However, it may also have some drawbacks as the sheer volume can be difficult to navigate. This new tool from Steam may help alleviate some of the issues.
Steam Labs Introduces a Personal Calendar for Game Recommendations
Steam has unveiled a personal calendar feature that is currently being experimented with in Steam Labs. This calendar is special because it only includes game releases that Steam thinks players will be interested in. Rather than trying to aggregate every game and demo a player has played, the platform looks at the games players spend the most time on and makes recommendations based on that data, with the system refreshing the data daily to ensure relevant recommendations. The calendar is designed to display recently released games as well as upcoming games, helping players not miss a game.
The Steam Personal Calendar is currently in a Steam Labs experiment, so it may change, but there are a few details you might want to know about the current version. The calendar lists only weekdays, Monday through Friday. Steam notes that few games are released on weekends, so including those dates would be a waste of space. Additionally, the calendar is designed to also show games on players' Steam wishlists, even if they don't necessarily match the games they play regularly, so you don't miss out on games you've already marked as of interest. There are also differences in how upcoming and recently released games are displayed. Rather than a daily calendar like upcoming releases, it displays already released games divided into two sections: games released last month and games released last week. Users can use customization tools and filters to further adjust the calendar and change how it is displayed.
As mentioned earlier, this is currently an experiment on Steam and the platform is looking for feedback from users. Anyone with feedback on this feature can share their thoughts on the Steam Labs Personal Calendar Experiment discussion page.
