Missions, Rewards, Best Choices

Updated May 19, 2026: There's a new 'choose your path'A time-limited research event is underway. Pokemon GO. From 10AM on May 19th to 8PM on May 26th, players can choose from three paths offering different rewards. Most tasks are the same as the early-month event, but we've updated the guide to reflect the changes.


You can check through 'Career Selection Timed Research' from 10:00 am on May 19, 2026 (local time) to 8:00 pm on May 26, 2026 (local time). Pokemon GO. If you go to ‘Special’ in the in-game research tab, 'Choose a route' options. The three paths are Explore, Catch, and Battle. Here are the rewards for each route, as well as the rewards to go with them:!

If you decide to go with 'explore' The timed research path allows you to hatch eggs at half distance until May 26th. Additionally, the following two tasks (step 1) are performed:

  • 5 km expedition (x10 Great Ball)

  • Spin a PokeStop or Gym 50 times (10 Ultra Balls)

    • total reward: 3 pine berries, 5 rare candies

If you select 'grapple' Enter path Pokemon GOyou will get Extra candy for more than a good throw. You'll also have access to the following research challenges and rewards:

  • 15 Excellent Throws (x10 Great Ball)

  • Throw 50 curveballs (10 ultra balls)

    • total reward: 3 pine berries, 5 rare candies

And finally 'battle' path, you will get Additional components for Rocket Grunt CombatYou will receive the following research tasks and rewards:

  • Win 5 raids (Great Ball x10)

  • Use super effective charge attack 25 times (Ultra Ball x10)

    • total reward: 3 pine berries, 5 rare candies

Should you choose combat, exploration, or the catch route?

As someone who doesn't travel much, Pokemon GOme I think the best option is the Catch route.. You don't have to participate in raids or do much exploring to benefit from the extra XP. All you have to do is catch a Pokémon. It's also not that difficult to get more than a Nice Throw during a Pokémon encounter, so you can earn a lot of XP just by playing. Pokemon GO at home.

However, if you are going to a new city or an outdoor event soon or somewhere with a lot of walking, Taking the Explore route might not be a bad choice.. Make sure you go to one of the numerous PokeStops to get 5x bonus XP.
