Five years ago, Minecraft introduced Deepslate, a new, sturdy block found in the lower depths of the overworld in the Caves & Cliffs update. It functions much like stone, and when mined, it turns into graveled judgment, which can also be used in situ to craft items such as furnaces. However, unlike cobblestone, there is no way to make a generator for deepslate, which is renewable and more accessible.
Cobblestone generators work by flowing water into the lava.
One fan, u/Super_Leadership_808, has a novel idea on how Mojang can fix this problem, and it's all thanks to the release of the new Chaos Cube game. Coming later this year, the update adds a new Sulfur Cave biome with red cinnabar and yellow crystalline sulfur blocks, along with new sulfur cube mobs and more importantly, sulfur springs.
This generates on the surface, much like how azalea trees appear over a lush cave, and the idea is that “sulfur pool water and lava should generate deep slate instead of cobblestone, finally giving players a playable deep slate generator.” What makes sulfur spring water different from regular water is the powerful blocks of sulfur that create toxic gases when placed beneath the water source, so we already have the tools to make this concept a reality.
What the Deepslate generator looks like
The reason you want deepslate, which is renewable like stone, is that it's a versatile building block capable of multiple transformations, and having it available through a generator is probably less of a hassle than having to venture deep into the overworld every time you want to refill your supplies.
This isn't the first time Mojang has introduced a new block generator. This is because basalt can be created from soul dirt, blue ice, and flowing lava. For Deepslate, you can use Powerful Sulfur to accomplish a similar task, and you can also add it to your Wandering Merchant's inventory so you don't have to search for Sulfur Springs or Caves.
Some people argue that the current cobblestone generator doesn't require any sulfur at all and should simply create Judgment when it is at a low enough level, but this defeats the purpose of the generator. If you have to venture down low to get it to work, consider removing the existing deepslate. This gives you the added bonus of potentially finding diamonds or other minerals. u/Super_Leadership_808's idea, also submitted to r/MinecraftSuggestions, is not only more practical, but would add some much-needed utility to the Sulfur Cavern.
