Marvel Rivals players have provided evidence that Netease is filling the lobbies of losing players with bots.

It is believed that if you lose two games in a row, your next game will be against a team made up entirely of bots.

Bots appear to be limited to quick play matches with no evidence of them appearing competitively.
There's no doubt that Marvel Rivals has been a huge success on the live service so far, with 20 million users trying it out in at least the first month. The real test for Netease will be how many of its millions can keep participating over the long term. There are various methods for other live service games as well. One of them could be filling some lobbies with bots, and there seems to be evidence to suggest that's already happening in Rivals.
Rumors that certain matches were closer to bots than humans started with a post shared by ciaranxy on the Marvel Rivals subreddit. After a week of researching who or what exactly the lobbies are filled with, we believe Rivals players have confirmed that not only are there bots in certain matches, but they have a high chance of winning if they lose two quickplay matches in a row. There's an incredibly high chance that the next match will consist of more bots than humans.

ciaranxy claims that after losing two games in a row, he will likely be placed on a team of three other human players and two bots, and will face a team made up entirely of bots. You'll know if you're participating in one of these matches because all the bots are level 1 and their access is marked as restricted rather than restricted like a regular player.

If you don't want to play with them, just keep winning. easy.
Before you try to leave a bot-filled lobby, just like any other rivalry match, you will be penalized for leaving the lobby without a valid reason. On the bright side, ciaranxy's research found that there are no bots in Rivals' competitive matches. This only appears in Quickplay matches, and won't appear until you've lost at least two times in a row. This appears to be because Netease believes it needs help.
Rivals has so many players that it doesn't need bots to fill its lobbies, so the main theory behind using bots is to keep people playing. Nothing puts a damper on a live service game like losing a few games in a row, leaving you feeling like you're not good enough to spend more time on it.
Give a losing player a bot and suddenly they'll enjoy it again, play more, and potentially spend money on free games. However, if there are bots, players can now get wise to it, and responses to the findings shared on Reddit show that many people are not happy about it.
