Earlier this week, Bungie dropped a huge bombshell that Destiny 2 would receive its final update next month and that no new content would be added to the game for the foreseeable future. The game put an end to one of the longest-running live service games, leaving a passionate fan base angry and at a loss.
Naturally, much of that anger is being directed at Marathon, Bungie's other live-service shooter that's still alive and well despite reports that it hasn't had much success as of late. If you check out the game's latest Steam reviews (thanks to GamesRadar), you'll see a significant spike in negative reviews, most of which talk about nothing but Destiny.
Marathon is being bombarded with Destiny 2 issues.
At the time of writing, Marathon currently has a total of 153 negative reviews, most of which have comments like “I miss Destiny” and “The trash developer turned on Destiny 2 to make this shit game.” I think it's safe to say that most reviews are spiteful and not really representative of the quality of the game itself.

Bungie promises that the marathon will be happening “for a long time.”
Players have come to fear a sudden outage of live services, but Bungie promises Marathon isn't going anywhere.
Despite being the worst Steam review bombardment ever, in my opinion, Marathon's Steam rating didn't really suffer because of it. In fact, Marathon garnered nearly twice as many positive reviews as negative reviews today, thanks to an anti-review bombing campaign in retaliation against angry Destiny 2 players.
On Marathon's subreddit, user Standard_Young_201 urges fellow fans to leave positive reviews for the game if they can combat the flood of negative reviews from Destiny 2 fans, so it's safe to say the review bomb failed. I'm also happy because developers working on completely different games shouldn't have to suffer because another game is finished.
