Marathon is a casual extraction shooter that no one wants.

People think that Destiny players are prejudiced about marathon, but they can't get away from the truth. Destiny 2 is weak for years (we will see how the destiny will be released next week), and you can easily see the marathon as a new baby who neglects Mom and Dad. Destiny is no longer the only focus of Bungie, but it doesn't mean getting sick in a marathon. And most of them are not. So while I support the marathon in a side job, I am having a hard time imagining that it is the escape of the next fate, Tarkov or Apex Legends. I played it, I saw people playing it, I heard that many extracted fans were talking about it, and the consensus seems to be a big group shoulder. It's kind of good, sometimes fun, but is there any juice to pull people from the favorite shooters? From what we have seen so far, no.

Before the genre has a chance to take off, people are already sick as an extractor or all of the trends we have seen in the last decade, so everyone will be sick. Mobas, Hero Shooters, Battle Royales, Roguelikes, and Soulslikes have the opportunity to be a genre Du Jour, and now depending on how the marathon is popular when the extractor boom begins or ends.

There are already quite a few extractors, but if we are talking about PVP FPS extractors like a marathon, the hunt is far less than Tarkov and much less. For all intentions and purposes, Tarkov is the fortress of the extractor. A measure of all other extraction shooters.

To understand the extract shooter genre, you need to understand Tarkov. Escape from Tarkov -and I say this is an absolute nightmare with as much affection and respect as possible. It is too complicated and sadly forgiveness every time. Tarkov has something that a reasonable game developer can't do. There was no game like Tarkov, and it is easy to understand why after playing.

What would you say if I asked you what kind of ammunition type of the shooter? 15? 30? There is 185 to escape from Tarkov. One of them has different accuracy rating, projectile speed, penetration, armor damage, recoil and hardcore RPGs. And yes, the type of ammunition you use is important.

Tarkov is so hostile to the player, so there's no map. There is no GPS for the extraction site and there is no quest marker. There is also a compass and a fan that should be on the second monitor while playing. They say that it takes 1,000 hours to play Tarkov. It is not a game for everyone, but if it is for you, it is the only game you will do.

Bungie decided that the marathon was the opposite of the Tarkov in almost every way rather than competing after seeing the Tarkov. It is a specified goal of the game to attract a new immigrant into the genre, and the marathon makes a lot of effort to lower the barriers to entry. This decision is at least a reaction to a general complaint that Destiny 2 is not accessible, but it is also an attempt to provide something completely different from Tarkov rather than competing directly.

The complexity of Tarkov is not a bug. It makes the game depth and makes people want to keep playing. It is too insensitive, confused, and blatantly hostile to the players, and just playing is like overcoming the challenge. It turns off a lot of people, but it makes the people who get it so devoted.

We have seen developers fall into this trap. The game made for everyone is a game made by anyone. Attempts on access to marathon have caused a lack of depth. Marathon is trying to appeal to the lowest common denominator instead of promising specific and dangerous. It is an extraction shooter for those who do not like the extractor. You call or cheer in Tarkov, but the marathon will not be able to get support because it is too concentrated to avoid booths. There is only awkward silence.
