When Arcane returns for its second and final season in 2024, fans of the show who play Fortnite called on Vi and Jink to celebrate by returning to the game. Riot tried and failed to make this happen, and after a year when all hope seemed lost, Arcane fans finally got some hope.
Nothing official has been confirmed yet, but a usually very reliable Fortnite leaker has claimed that Jinx and Vi will be returning to Fortnite in Chapter 7, Season 1. That trustworthy leaker is Hypex. He got a nice touch after tweeting “I'm ok” and then sharing a very welcome news moment, sharing something we thought we'd never see.
Jinx and Vi have been missing from Fortnite since 2021.
The Jinx and Vi skins reportedly coming to Fortnite are probably the ones that left the in-game store four years ago. Arcane's two main characters were added to the game as part of a crossover with the show's first season. It cannot be used after that. This means that if you missed out on a pair of Arcane or didn't even get a chance to miss it because you weren't playing Fortnite at the time, you won't be given a second chance to purchase it.
Jayce and Viktor's final moments together in Arcane have been immortalized in a Youtooz figure.
Arcane may be over for good, but the prizes keep coming.
Riot CEO Marc Merrill initially claimed that Vi and Jinx's absence was due to them, amid clamoring for them to return to the game once Season 2 began streaming. This seems to have ended months of discussions with Epic Games on bad news. In April, Merrill provided an update, revealing that he was indeed at Epic and that Jinx and Vi would not be returning to Fortnite in the “foreseeable future.”
Between two seasons and the end of Arcane, most people would have thought the skins would be locked away forever. There will be no Arcane season 3. This means there's no reason to give away skins again to promote the show. But it seems people were loud enough for Epic to bring it back for no other reason than people wanted to buy it.
Of course, if the leaks are accurate, it seems likely that this will continue to be the case. Not only did the leakers claim that Jinx and Vi would be returning, but a second leak, courtesy of BeastFNCreative, added that Enemy, an Imagine Dragons track synonymous with Arcane, would be included as part of the unexpected crossover.
Even though there's no more Arcane, fans of the show have been celebrating the anniversary of the end of Season 2. This is probably why Epic has now chosen to bring back Jinx and Vi. Chapter 7, Season 1 is set to begin this weekend, so we'll find out for sure in the next few days if the Arcane character actually makes a return.
