Critical reception of When I Got Reincarnated as a Slime
In 2018, both the original light novel and the manga adaptation won the Bookwalker Award, and were nominated for the 45th Kodansha Manga Awards in the Boys' Category in 2021, winning in the same category the following year. 『When I Was Reincarnated as a Slime』 was first published by the original author, Fuse, on the Japanese self-publishing website Shōsetsuka ni Narō (Let's Become a Novelist) from 2013 to 2016, garnering 400 million page views.
A print edition of the light novel was published by Micro Magazine in 2014 with illustrations by Mitz Vah. The original light novel, which was reincarnated as a slime, ended with the release of volume 23 in November 2025. However, a new series of side stories are scheduled to begin releasing this year. Yen Press licensed When I Got Reincarnated as a Slime to publish in English, with Volume 29 released in late March.
