How to get into the theater at Fear the Spotlight

be afraid of the spotlight After solving the fuse box puzzle in the gym and turning on the HVAC unit outside, players will arrive in front of the Sunnyside Theater. As you enter the Webber Building, the reason for the smoke from earlier becomes clear. There was a big fire at the entrance of the theater. Fortunately, there is a sprinkler on the ceiling, so you can enter if you turn it on.

But turning on sprinklers is easier said than done. In the courtyard you will see a sewer entrance with a strange lid. It has two handles that can be interacted with to rotate the two internal disks. You'll also find a map showing your location and the various west and east corridor spaces. The door on the left requires a key, and the door on the right is blocked by rubble.

Enter the theater under the spotlight

If you don't have a clear path forward, your first task is to: Solve the sewer entrance puzzle. Interact with the two handles until they form a vine. This will activate the lid and reveal a ladder that will allow you to enter the sewer.

Go down and use the flashlight to explore the sewers. You will find a cabinet that you can open. Collect the Hallway Key from the statue inside the cabinet. The statue's face is missing. There's nothing you can do here now, so use the ladder to get back to the front of the theater.

west hallway

Now that you have the hallway key, you can enter the western hallway. View the location of the various rooms on the courtyard map. Once inside, turn on the flashlight and continue forward. You'll soon find the door to the drama class. Please go inside.

Go to the table on the left and interact with the rug on the floor. Push to the side and you'll see a metal hatch with a strange keyhole in the floor. Read the note in the room for more information, then head outside.

Continue forward and you will see some rubble on your left blocking your path. This leads to the bathroom, but you'll need to find a way to raise the bathroom. Go a little further and you will see the door to the music classroom. There is a TV and VHS player in the room, but you have to find a TV cable to hook it up. You'll also need a VHS tape to play it. There's also a piano in the room with blood on some of the keys, but there's nothing you can do about it yet.

If you leave the music class and walk to the end of the hallway, you will see the door to the art class. Explore the room and you'll find Jack holding a table in one corner. Interact with it and select it. As soon as you pick up the jack, the room lights up and a spotlight head enters the classroom. Carefully avoid its gaze and return to the western hallway.

Pick up the jack and return to the wreckage you saw earlier near the drama class. Use the jack to lift the debris. To get inside the bathroom, go through the blue door on the right. Head towards the mirror and interact with it. Use the screwdriver in your inventory to unscrew the two screws holding the center mirror in place.

The mirror will fall and you will find the first face piece hidden behind it. You can also see a readable note hanging on the wall. Pick up the face piece and go through the hole in the bathroom to the other side. Near the sink you will find an inhaler and another letter from the Secret Admirer.

Work on West Hallway is now complete. But when you go out, you'll see a spotlight shining above the ceiling. As before, do not go inside, but return to the main courtyard outside the theater.

east hallway

In the courtyard, head towards the rubble blocking the entrance to the eastern hallway. You can now use the jack to lift it and access the hallway. Once inside, take the first door on the right and enter the literature classroom. On the table is a puzzle box with three symbols that can be rotated. A white rose, a heart with a knife in it, and a bird in a cage. There is also a projector in the room that you can control. To use it, you'll need to find a projector seat.

First, leave the room and enter the digital media room across the hallway. This room has a printer that can print projector sheets. There are two computers, one near the door and the other in the far left corner of the room. To use it, you'll need to find a floppy disk. Please leave the room now.

If you move down the long hallway next to the literature classroom, you'll come across the Spotlight again. Use the shelves on either side as cover and enter the biology lab through the first door on the left. There will be a large birdcage hanging in the center of the room. You can come down by pulling the rope. Approach the cage and interact with it. Use the pliers you picked up when unlocking the rose door to bend the bar and grab the TV cable.

In the biology lab, go left and enter the door on the right to find the Audio Visual. The room is stacked with shelves. Explore the room and you will eventually find a VHS tape. Pick it up. When you try to leave the room, you will find that the door is locked. Go back to the far end of the room and pick up the strange key from the ground.

At this point the room will be filled with elusive Specters. Just ignore it and go out the front door. It will be automatically unlocked once you obtain the Strange Key. Carefully return to the main courtyard. It has almost everything you need to solve the puzzle.

Return to the west hallway

Go to the theater classroom in the western hallway and use the strange key you picked up along with the metal hatch you found on the ground. You'll see a ladder you can use to go down into a room lined with bookshelves. Go to the last bookshelf and get the empty floppy disk and the inhaler.

Avoid Spotlight's gaze and head to the Music Room. Insert the VHS tape into the VCR and connect the TV cable. A video will play, showing you which keys to press on the piano. Go to the piano in the room and press the correct key to open a hidden compartment where you can find the second face piece.

Return to East Hall Way

After obtaining the second face piece, return to the computer room in the eastern hallway. Insert a blank floppy disk into the computer near the door. This will cause the spotlight head to enter the room. You must wait until data saving to the floppy disk is complete. Grab it when the bar is full.

Now carefully go to the second computer and use the floppy disk. Then go to the printer and interact with it to get a projector sheet. We were caught by Spotlight Head once, but still managed to get our hands on the item and escape the room.

Now go to the literature classroom across the hall and place the projector sheet on top of the projector. Adjust the projector so that the whiteboard is in focus. If done correctly, you will see the poem appear on the sheet. This is a clue to solve the puzzle box in the same room.

In the puzzle box, rotate the rose symbol until it points upward. Set the next symbol so that the blade points to 11 o'clock. Finally, you need to set up the symbol so that the bird in the cage is facing downwards. Clicking the switch opens a puzzle box, revealing the third face piece inside.

Turn on sprinklers

Once you have 3 face pieces in your inventory, you can now return to the sewers in the main courtyard. Use the face piece along with the statue you found earlier to reveal a secret tunnel leading to the water pump room. Take a moment to look around the room. Interact with the water pump system and you will notice that the pipes are gone.

There is an inhaler available for purchase near the bookshelf in the room.

Go down the left hallway and note the prison cell. You need a key to unlock it. Continue forward and climb the stairs on the left. Enter the tunnel that appears at the top and you will find a dressing room.

Open the storage trunk in the room to find a Prison Key. Use it to unlock the prison seen earlier and grab the Bloody Pipe from the trash can. Then go back to the water pump system and use it to fill in the missing pipe sections.

The handle must be set in the correct position for the pump to work. The correct layout is:

• The handle in the upper left corner points to the right.
• The handle in the upper right corner faces down.
• The handle at the bottom points to the left.

Now click on the button near the pump to activate the sprinkler system and put out the fire burning outside the theater.

You are now free to return to the main courtyard and enter the theatre. But the game isn't over yet. Players will soon have to face the final boss of Vivan's Story. Fear the spotlight.
