By posting a long message to the community, Helldiver 2 Game director Mikael Eriksson discussed near-term plans for the popular multiplayer game. Player and community progression was a big element of the post, and Arrowhead worked to make Galactic War of Helldivers 2 feel more alive with players having a greater influence on things. Later this month, a Galactic War campaign will be added, an evolution of the current main command system that will last one to three weeks and better communicate how things are going and what's at stake in the game world. Going a little further, Eriksson also revealed a new mission called Planet Warfronts, a more dynamic style activity that takes inspiration from other roguelite-style games. Basically, these missions fall into three categories: defending liberated territories, engaging in front-line warfare, and getting stuck behind enemy lines. Players will fight to reach key strategic locations on the planet, such as cities, and there may also be enemy variants in different parts of the planet. There will also be gameplay-altering effects, consequences for achieving liberation goals (e.g. timers for reaching certain points), or the Game Master twisting certain elements during gameplay. Ultimately, the goal is to make each run fun and unique.
Experimenting with the game's core systems seems to have always been at the forefront of the studio's mind. Eriksson admitted that he had been trying to add dynamic battlegrounds even before the game's release. However, the production team at the time felt that there was insufficient content and put the plan on hold.
In the same vein, Arrowhead CCO Johan Pilestedt has previously spoken about adding “sequel-level” ideas. Helldiver 2. Pilestedt mentioned the roguelite mode from which this feature was born, while also discussing other potential ideas, such as larger, more open maps where players could meet, bond, and take on bigger challenges together.

But the obstacles to this were more technical, with major concerns that potential performance issues would ultimately detract from the experience. Arrowhead Game Studios CEO Shams Jorjani initially denied this. Helldiver 2 The idea was suggested by a fan, citing technical issues and potential frame rate issues. However, the technical aspect is Helldiver 2 It's improved over the past few months, so it's probably more plausible than before.
