'Game of Thrones' Jon Snow 'angry' at request for final season remake

Game of Thrones may have come to a close in 2019, but it still has a reputation as a 'good TV show with a disastrous ending'. If you think back to Season 8 of Game of Thrones, you'll remember all the ridicule and vitriol that was spewed out on the show. This led to a Change.org petition that went viral.

Petitions calling for David Benioff and DB Weiss to be remade for Season 8, calling them “woefully incompetent writers,” can still be found online to this day. The petition gathered nearly 2 million signatures. If I wrote something and nearly two million people decided it needed to be remade immediately, I'd probably just hand them a pen and paper right then and there.

Kit Harington 'outraged' by petition for Game of Thrones final season remake

Unsurprisingly, the size of the petition was so large that news of it reached the eyes and ears of the Game of Thrones cast, especially Jon Snow actor Kit Harington. It may have been years ago, but Harington has now explained how he felt (and still feels) about that petition in a new interview with the New York Times (thanks, IGN). Turns out he wasn't much of a fan.

Harington said she was “shocked” by the overwhelming negative response to the show's final season, and the petition it spawned was “really infuriating.”

“How dare you? I'm sorry. That's exactly what I thought. It was a level of stupidity that could only come out through social media.”

Much of Harington's anger seems to be due to the insults he hurled, as he told the New York Times that he knows writers David Benioff and DB Weiss put a lot of effort into Season 8. Given how mean-spirited the petition actually was, it makes sense that Harington would have been outraged since he devoted a significant portion of his life to those associated with the show at the time.

Eventually we move on and Game of Thrones becomes a thing of the past. It wasn't the first show to have a messy ending, and it won't be the last. Take a look at some of the reactions to the finale of Stranger Things.
