Far Cry 7 audio reportedly leaked

It's been almost five years since Far Cry 6 was released, and so far all we know about Far Cry 7 is through various rumors, leaks, and reports. It's an open secret that Far Cry 7 is being developed by Ubisoft, but when we'll see the game is anyone's guess.

We can add one more leak to the list, as Ubisoft leaker Rogue shared a minute-long clip on social media claiming to be audio from Far Cry 7.

Set against a backdrop of expansive mountains, the clip is filled with the sound of a clock ticking. The ticking sound and music increase in intensity for a minute before the clip finally fades out.

The modern video landscape wouldn't be the same without Far Cry 3.

It's been more than a decade since Ubisoft's open-world blockbuster changed video games forever.

If the audio is indeed authentic, it seems to confirm long-standing rumors that Far Cry 7 will have a time-related twist. This frustrated fans who just wanted to play the game at their own pace.

Far Cry 7 will seemingly be a different kind of Far Cry title

It was first reported in 2023 that Far Cry 7 would have a time mechanic that would require players to complete the game within 24 real-time hours. Rumors suggest that the game's main story will revolve around a family that must be rescued within a certain amount of time.

The clock has been known to pause when in hiding, but otherwise run continuously for all other activities. 24 real-world hours equals 72 in-game hours. At the time, it was rumored that Cillian Murphy would have a role in the game, but this was later debunked.

Last year, a “scrap version” of Far Cry 7 leaked online, including details about an extraction mode and an Alaskan setting. However, it is unclear which elements of the leak were discarded. More recently, Insider Gaming's Tom Henderson claimed that Far Cry 7 development is “going through hell.”

Ultimately, there's enough to suggest that Far Cry 7 will be different from previous entries. We'll see how different it will be when it's finally revealed.
