everything you need to know

After waiting for over a year, A-1 Pictures has finally announced a new work. solo leveling Project. Prior to the announcement, fans were confident that the studio would create a third season that would cover the next arc of the story, but it looks like A-1 Pictures has other plans.

The next project name is solo leveling: Beyond the system. It's not going to be a regular anime season, it's going to be a movie. According to early reports, the film will be released in Japan in 2027. The exact release date hasn't been revealed yet, but that doesn't mean fans can't get excited about the project.

What arcs does Solo Leveling: Beyond the System include?

Solo leveling returns in 2027

Solo Leveling: Beyond The System is a direct sequel to the second season of the anime and will cover what follows. There are still many arcs that can be covered in the project, but based on the movie's title, there will be two arcs covered: the Azin Guild Arc and the Double Dungeon Arc.

The Ajin Guild arc isn't as action-packed as the previous installments, but it makes up for it with a ton of drama and tension. In this issue, Jinwoo forms the Ajin Guild and begins to take on new challenges, mostly on his own. When the Knights' Guild approaches him, he accepts their offer and decides to help them. While Jinwoo is busy helping with guild work, Jinwoo's younger sister becomes caught up in an invasion by orcs. So Jinwoo has to leave the knights guild and chase after his sister. One thing is for sure: the Ajin Guild arc will have fans excited. But the main attraction of Solo Leveling: Beyond The System will be its double dungeon arc.

After Sung Jin-woo acquired his abilities, fans wondered why he was selected as a player and what the system was. Fortunately, the wait will end when the movie comes out. The title of the movie ‘Beyond The System’ makes it clear that it will reveal a lot of details related to the system. In the double dungeon, Jinwoo moves to the Cartenon Temple, where it all began. Although this place is normally inaccessible, the hero received the key after reaching level 100.

Jinwoo arrived at the Cartenon Temple and met Candiaru, the designer of the system. Jinwoo had many questions for him, but Candiaru did not tell the hero everything. So he made him an offer. The idea was to break all the statues to get a chance to learn about the system. So Jinwoo had to fight the very statues that almost killed him on his first visit. As expected, things were different this time. Instead of running around in fear, Jinwoo completely destroyed the statues. Even when Shin Sang participated in the war, the results were no different.

With them all defeated, the Architect entered the fray. He set up another challenge, this time asking Jinwoo to beat him. The Architect sets a timer for 10 minutes and announces that if Jin-Woo is not defeated within the given time, Jin-Woo's life will be forfeited. As expected, the architect made Jinwoo work hard with a single shot of the statue. In fact, the hero came dangerously close to death and survived thanks to his quick thinking and reflexes. Jinwoo, who started on the back foot, slowly began to take the lead and eventually surpassed Candiaru. Afterwards, he took down the Architect with just a few minutes left on the clock.

I am the record of your struggle, the evidence of your resistance and the reward for your suffering. I am death, I am eternal rest, I am fear. —Ashbourne

The beaten Candiaru puts Jinwoo in a state of stasis. The former hoped that the Shadow Lord would take over Jinwoo's body and be reborn. But the Shadow Lord had no intention of being reborn. Instead, he entrusted all remaining power to Jinwoo. The Architect was not pleased with the Shadow Lord's actions and tried to stop him, but the latter was two steps ahead. He locked Kandiaru out of the system to prevent him from interfering with the process.

In addition to focusing on Jin-woo and the architect, the movie will also give more screen time to other interesting characters like Cha Hae-in, Choi Jong-in, and Baek Yun-ho. Many fans have complained about the lack of screen time for side characters, but thankfully Solo Leveling: Beyond The System will address that.

Isn’t A-1 Pictures producing Solo Leveling Season 3?

Solo leveling movie expected release date

Following the film's release, there was considerable dissatisfaction among fans about the future of the franchise. For a long time, fans believed that A-1 Pictures would be busy producing a third season of Solo Leveling, but now they have been proven wrong. However, the decision to produce a new film instead of a regular animated season may have been made a long time ago.

The studio may have been motivated and somewhat influenced by the success of Demon Slayer: Infinity Castle. It's unlikely that Solo Leveling: Beyond The System will hit similar numbers, but there's no denying that the film will make a decent amount of money. Aone Pictures plans to decide whether to make a next film or to continue producing regular films depending on the success of the new film 'Leveling Alone'.

There's no doubt that there will be a third season of Solo Leveling regardless of how much money the movie makes. As stated earlier, there are still many episodes left, so it is unreasonable to assume that all of them will be produced as movies. Now the question is, when will Solo Leveling Season 3 release?

The system uses me and I use the system. —Seong Jin-woo

Considering that Beyond the System will be released around 2027, the third season of Solo Leveling will likely air in late 2028 or early 2029. Fans also know that it takes a lot of time to create top-notch work, so we can't expect the project to be released before 2028.

After the release of Season 3, there is a possibility that the final battle between Sung Jin-woo and his enemies will be made into a movie. However, this is just an assumption that other popular anime series are also leaning into filmmaking. The best example is obviously Demon Slayer. The series is releasing a trilogy covering the entire Infinity Castle arc and, as expected, it has made a decent amount of money. So it's highly unlikely that Solo Leveling: Beyond The System will be the final film in the franchise.
