E-Day could be released around September.

It's been quite a while since we last had a major update for Gears of War: E-Day, the first new mainline Gears of War title since Gears 5 in 2019. Aside from the reveal trailer and a few hints here and there, it's been mostly quiet.

That should change in June, as Xbox will have a dedicated Gears of War: E-Day Direct following its massive Xbox games showcase at Summer Game Fest. But before that, we seem to have a better idea of when E-Day will be released, and it looks like it will be sometime in September.

Last night at WWE's Backlash Premium Live Event (PLE), the company announced a new PLE for the AAA Lucha Libre sub-promotion that will take place on September 11th and 13th. Presentation sponsor? None other than Gears of War: E-Day.

This means E-Day will be released on that schedule, potentially the week of September 7th.

It features a neon green Xbox logo on a black background.

Xbox is back! Can it be restored to its former glory?

The future of Xbox is unclear, but the console brand is determined to make a comeback.

WWE is no stranger to having video games as sponsors, as the opening match at Backlash was presented by Invincible VS. The game was released on April 30th. Past sponsors include Doom: The Dark Ages, Fatal Fury: City of the Wolves, and 2K Properties.

Considering Summer Game Fest is just around the corner, it won't take long to get official confirmation. Still, it's enough to get the hype train rolling.

This is how Xbox's slate is formed

As of now, Forza Horizon 6 is scheduled to release later this month on May 19th. Likewise, Gears of War: E-Day is expected to be released in early to mid-September.

However, Xbox has several other titles in the pipeline, including Halo: Campaign Evolved and Fable. Halo's first campaign remake doesn't have a release date, but speculation after the Fanta promotion has fans thinking it could release in June. The promotion only heightened that speculation, as past reports have indicated that summer will be the target for Campaign Evolved.

For Fable, it was given a wider “fall” window, which the developer doubled down on amid rumors it could move out of the 2026 gap and into 2027.

Simply put, here's what Xbox's 2026 lineup will look like, delays aside.

  • Forza Horizon 6 – May 19

  • Halo: Campaign Evolved — June/July

  • Gears of War: E-Day — Around September 11th

  • Fable — Fall 2026 (September, October, November)
