Krillin is known for having met many deaths throughout the franchise, but that's mainly because Goku's best friend was on the front lines against enemies he wasn't qualified to fight. As one of the best Krillin fights, teaming up with Gohan and Vegeta against Recoome definitely provides certain highlights.
While it's true that the characters are mostly just buying time until Goku arrives, this fight is incredibly enjoyable and shows how these three characters work together against overwhelming odds. Since Recoome is one of the arc's many secondary villains, this fight didn't stand out as much as the others, despite being enjoyable to watch.

After Goku Black defeats Vegeta, Goku takes over the fight, but is soon overpowered by Black and Zamasu. This is when Trunks joins the fight, giving fans one of the best 2-on-2 fights that really helped depict the power of Zamasu and Goku Black.

One of the few great 2v2 fights in the franchise, this fight is definitely a highlight, even if its fast-paced nature makes it feel a little flat compared to longer, larger group fights.

As one of the best villains in the franchise, Frieza puts up quite the fight, resulting in a lengthy battle that includes a variety of team-ups. Until Goku arrives, Dragon Team focuses solely on survival. Because winning against Frieza feels like an impossible feat, especially without the protagonist.
Despite the hopelessness of the situation, Krillin and Gohan take the lead, inflicting minimal damage to their enemies and, more importantly, buying more time for Piccolo and Goku to arrive. Vegeta and Piccolo also get in on the action at some moments, but the underdogs Krillin and Gohan are the ones who really rise to the occasion despite being outnumbered. This battle, with its thrilling moments and high stakes, is full of over the top, but it feels a bit pointless as it ends with Goku once again having to step in and save the day.

Piccolo and Goku VS. Raditz
A pivotal alliance meets a shocking end

When Goku's older brother, Raditz, arrives on Earth and reveals the mystery behind Goku's origins and the dangers of the Saiyan threat, the protagonist has no choice but to ask his former enemy for an ally. Having the two most powerful characters at that point join forces makes for a powerful team-up featuring Gohan's massive yet unstable strength.
At this point, Piccolo was still considered an enemy, which marked his first step toward becoming a Z fighter and joining Goku to save the world. With a shocking ending where Goku sacrifices himself and Piccolo kills both Saiyans, this battle comes to an epic conclusion, adding to the unforgettable moments despite being a simple duo alliance.

An unexpected group joins forces to save the world

Goku, Mr. Satan, Good Buu, and Vegeta may feel like an odd combination, but they all work together to defeat Kid Buu, even if they don't fight at the same time. These group battles not only offer great combos of different characters, but also blend humor, emotion, and epicness to help the world defeat this source of evil.
Mister Satan can't do much physical damage, but his relationship with Good Buu strengthens and his actions are decisive, but it's Vegeta's involvement that really makes this a great group fight. By acknowledging Goku's superiority and sacrificing himself so that Goku can succeed in ending Genki Tama, the Saiyan prince receives the salvation and recognition he deserves in an unforgettable battle. However, these group fights can feel like multiple individual battles, as most characters get one-on-one moments with the antagonists while Goku prepares for his final attack in the background.

But the confrontation consisted of separate, unexpected individual efforts rather than coherent forces fighting together.

Jiren is probably one of the strongest opponents Goku has ever faced. Despite gaining the upper hand with the Ultra Instinct transformation, the protagonist eventually needs some help to defeat his enemies. With the existence of the entire universe at stake, Goku gets help from an unexpected source.
Whether for his own selfish reasons or not, Frieza joins the fight, fighting Jiren alongside Goku and Android 17, another former series antagonist.
