Crimson Desert had a decidedly mixed release, but the work Pearl Abyss has done since is worthy of praise. The company is well ahead of schedule when it comes to promised updates, and much of what it does is unplanned and based entirely on player feedback.
Updates are released regularly to improve existing features and add new ones, giving players an even better experience. This has resulted in Steam reviews steadily rising from “mixed,” to “generally positive,” and now to “very positive,” with 86% of reviews now being positive.
One of the biggest initial complaints about Crimson Desert was the fact that players could not tame or store the mounts they found on their adventures. But now everything has changed. Update v1.06.00 adds the ability to register 12 new mounts, along with a variety of new features.
Crimson Desert 1.06.00 adds 12 new special mounts.
Not long after Crimson Desert was released, players were in an uproar over not being able to register new mounts. Pearl Abyss quickly fixed this, adding five more within a few weeks of launch. These included White Bear, Silver Fang, Snowwhite Deer, Rock Tusk Warthog and Icicle Edge Alpine Ibex.
Twelve more special mounts are now available as part of the game's latest update. They are as follows:
-
bear
-
wild boar
-
wolf
-
deer
-
goat
-
Cuckoo bird
-
iguana
-
raptors
-
camel
-
lions
-
tigers
In the update, the saddle was removed from the mount's default appearance to make it equippable. Saddles for each new mount can be purchased at:
-
Hernand Saddlery – Saddles for Wolves and Bears
-
Equinsher saddle – saddle for deer and wolves
-
Calpheid Saddle – Saddle for Bears and Cuckoo Birds
-
Demeniss Saddlery – Saddle for Cuckoo Birds and Deer
-
Pailune Saddlery – Saddle for bears and ibex
-
Delesyia Saddle – Saddle for warthogs
-
Tommaso Saddle – Saddle for iguanas
-
Varnia Saddlery – camel saddle
It's a great choice.
There are a number of other changes as part of the new update.
Along with new vehicles, Pearl Abyss added an extraction function that 'can recover materials needed for smelting equipment.' This will allow you to recover some of the materials you previously used to smelt weapons and armor.
Players can also use new unarmed combat techniques with Unkha, display a scabbard for her sword, and collect “Seals of Valor” which, when equipped, cause the pet dog to attack enemies.
Now you can play claw games at Laughing Marionette (of course you can). This lottery machine contains various rewards, including 12 lighting items, 1 chair, 1 special headgear, Abyss Artifact, and Abyss Gear.
This massive change entails over 70 changes to the UI, graphics, localization, controls, and content. You can check them all out here. Cheer up, Pearl Abyss.
