Boruto: Post-Mamushi Arc of Two Blue Vortex Makes Way for Sasuke and Naruto's Official Return
After Shinju Mamushi's death Boruto: Two Blue Swirls Chapter 33, officially released in V-Jump Issue #6, April 20, 2026, the return of Naruto Uzumaki and Sasuke Uchiha is now closer than ever. The current arc, i.e. the Post-Mamushi arc. Boruto: Two Blue SwirlsIt officially started with Chapter 35 and was released in 2009. V jump Issue 8, June 18, 2026. This issue marks the beginning of a new confrontation with the last remaining Shinju, and the code is also introduced. From the perspective of the main characters, the focus seems to be on three people in particular: Boruto Uzumaki, Sarada Uchiha, and Kawaki.
Boruto: Sarada, let them capture you. He'll probably take you straight to their base. But don't worry. It will fly right at you using the symbol I just gave you.
Sarada: I see, it's a reverse trap.
— Boruto and Sarada's star role in the new Hidari arc Boruto: Two Blue Vortex Chapter #35
at the time Boruto: Two Blue Swirls As the series begins, it is revealed that Naruto and Sasuke's return will have to wait as the threat of the Shinju is looming. But now most of them are already dead, and Hidari Shinju is likely to be the target of this new arc. Amid the threat of the slowly dying Shinju, this is a golden opportunity for Masashi Kishimoto and Mikio Ikemoto to officially resurrect Naruto Uzumaki and Sasuke Uchiha.
The main reason these two were left out of the story was so that the new generation would become stronger and gain more power. Now we can say that the new generation is much stronger than Naruto and Sasuke, especially in the case of Boruto, Sarada and Kawaki. So there is no longer a need for these characters to stay on the sidelines. They can come back and fight their own battles, standing alongside new generations and guiding them through their experiences. That's why Boruto's post-Mamushi arc, which officially began on June 18, 2026, begins with Naruto and Sasuke, ultimately leading the story toward their return.

Boruto unleashes the Kekkei Genkai, who are officially stronger than the Rinnegan.
Rinnegan is a divine power that has sadly been nerfed and surpassed by the new Kekkei Genkai in the Boruto series.
Why Uchiha Sasuke is destined to return after the next battle VS Hidari
The first of the two to return will be Uchiha Sasuke, as Hidari is the one who will fall into the post-Mamushi arc. Boruto: Two Blue Swirls. in Boruto: Two Blue Swirls In episode 35, Hidari and Yura began discussing the concept of love again. For the first time, Jura explained to the former that he would feel immense sadness if he lived in a world without him. This causes a giant death flag to be placed on Hidari's head, and the loss of love allows Jura himself to gain a massive power-up. So in this new arc, it's likely that Hidari will be targeted in some way and officially killed off.
Hidari: You could have collected their Thorn Soul Bulbs if you wanted, why didn't you? Or rather, why did you bring me back?
Jura: That's a good question. I've never thought about it, but just now I felt sad as I tried to imagine a world without you.
— Boruto: Two Blue Whirlpools Episode 35, foretelling Hidari's death
After Hidari dies Boruto: Two Blue Swirls Officially paving the way for Sasuke to return. Taking Hidari's Thorn Soul Bulb and shoving it into the tree where Sasuke is trapped, the Uchiha will officially return after a long three-year wait, finally reclaiming one of the two legends. At the same time, Jura will power up significantly, which will play a big role in the follow-up arc for Sasuke to facilitate the return of Konoha's Seventh Hokage, Naruto Uzumaki.
“I'm sorry, I think you'll have to wait a little longer, Sasuke-sensei.” — Boruto Uzumaki fails to save Sasuke, Boruto: Two Blue Whirlpools Chapter 4
Naruto's return will be linked to Jura and Kawaki.
With Sasuke officially set to return at the end of the Post-Mamushi arc, we need to take a look at the very unusual case of Naruto. Technically, Naruto most likely won't return until the end of the Boruto series, i.e. after Kawaki and Boruto's battle. This was teased in Boruto: Naruto Next Generations Chapter 1, Issue 23 of Shueisha Weekly Shonen Jump, released on May 9, 2016. However, Jura, the strongest of the Shinju, already knows Naruto's location and the fact that he is alive.
“When I visited Konoha not long ago, I was shocked to hear that the Seventh Hokage had died. But looking in your eyes, I'm sure Naruto Uzumaki is still alive.” — Jura confirms Naruto's fate. Boruto: Two Blue Vortex Chapter #24
After Yura's power-up due to Hidari's death, the possibility of a confrontation between him and the Seventh Hokage increases. Jura may release Naruto Uzumaki to eat him, or Naruto may return. In other words, Mikio Ikemoto and Masashi Kishimoto opened the way for Naruto Uzumaki to return following Hidari's fall.
The implication is that Naruto won't return until the end of Boruto vs. Kawaki, but the language used in the latter isn't clear. Kawaki only says that he will send Boruto to the same place as the Seventh, but does not explicitly state whether the Seventh is still there. This could simply mean that Kawaki will send Boruto to the Daikokuten dimension where the Seventh Hokage was. All we can do is be patient and wait, but with each passing chapter, the return of these two legends gets closer and closer. Sasuke's return will likely occur before the end of this ongoing arc, and Naruto's return will likely follow in a later arc, finally giving us back our two most beloved shinobi.
The latest chapter of Boruto: Two Blue Vortex written by Mikio Ikemoto and Masashi Kishimoto is available to read through MANGA Plus and Viz Media.
