It is always interesting when a glimpse of the curtains in the internal culture of beloved studio. Traditionally, the peak betrayed the culture of crunch and sexual acts, but sometimes we see a pleasant story.
We already knew about the incredible crisis of Bioware, and now David Gaider has provided additional insights to the internal culture with a legendary studio problem. According to GAIDER, Dragon Age: Origins, Dragon Age 2 and Dragon Age Inquisition, Bioware's Mass Effect and Dragon Age teams have a lot of hostility for each other. Obviously, EA also preferred the Mass Effect team.
Two teams, two cultures
It was a mistake. As you know, what you need to know about Bioware is that you are basically two teams of Dragon Age Team and Mass Effect Team for a long time. Running differently, very different cultures may be two separate studios. And they are not good. -David Gaider (@davidgaider.bsky.social) 2025-04-14T04: 33: 25.984z
GAIDER has opened up the conflicts of the Bluesky posts on his career so far, saying, “What I need to know about Bioware was that it was two teams under one roof for a long time: Dragon Age Team and Mass Effect teams were basically two teams. Maybe it was. “
“The company knew friction and attempts to fix it for several years,” he wrote. “[This was done] Mainly mixed employees between teams more often. But this did not actually solve things. “
GAIDER wanted a new challenge after the religious court after transportation, but was not willing to move to Montreal to work at Mass Effect: Andromeda. Instead, he decided to join the team that made a team of developers who worked in Mass Effect Trilogy.
Gaider was in charge of changing Anthem to fantasy science fantasy science fantasy in science fiction in “beer and tobacco” science science, but the team was not satisfied with the guidelines, and his story was constantly saying that his story work was “too similar to Dragon Age.” GAIDER has doubted that Anthem will fail and decided to leave Bioware when he heard that he would not be promoted to the role of creative director in the future project.
“I won't explain in detail except to say that it's clear that it's a team that doesn't want to create an RPG. In fact, RPGs were very half RPGs. But they wanted to create a bioware quality story without shaking the magic writing wand and actually doing so.”
Anthem was ultimately a critical failure, and GaiDer co -founded Summerfall Studios, which released its debut title Stray Gods in 2023.
