But Levine didn't just make sure the game didn't fade into the background, he continued to mention it. For example, in a recent interview with IGN, he explained why the game took so long to develop, which ultimately comes down to Ghost Story's vision for a narrative that is fully responsive to the player's decisions.

“The reason it took this long really has nothing to do with rendering technology or anything related to that,” Levine said in an interview. “It was about figuring out how we built the system, this narrative LEGO system that dynamically combines modular elements at runtime to create a very responsive story for the player.” Of course, that might explain why it took so long after the operation. Judah It started, but why it continues to pass years since the official Game Awards reveal may be another story.

Levine's “narrative LEGO” system means that the game must recognize what the player is doing, in what order, how the main characters feel about it, and that those characters must react in a way that feels authored rather than random. It's a very different matter from writing a solid story, recording the dialogue, and mostly laying it out on a fixed path. Instead, the problem is to make it flexible without breaking the story.

In theory, this means that a ghost story should account for multiple emotional states, alliances, rivalries, betrayals, and gameplay outcomes without any version of the story feeling like a sub-path. One character can help Judas in battle, another can bribe her, another can attack her, and all of this should tie back to the player's history in an easy-to-read way.
Sure, that all sounds exciting, but it also sounds like an infinitely tall Jenga tower that could collapse at any time if even one piece is out of place. And the problem is bound to become more and more complex over time as new parts are added. Each new part affects the rest, forcing the team to decide what's worth keeping and what's not, potentially leading to a complete rework. So, while Judah Missing a previously anticipated window is undoubtedly disappointing. Delaying can ultimately lead to the same results that made you excited in the first place. Ghost Story strives to create a first-person shooter where the story isn't simply told to the player, but is constantly rearranged around the player.
For now, it's best to let Judas do the work.

Ghost Story Games has revealed enough to make the game sound ambitious, but ambition is only part of the equation.
